A 5-player standard game, yes, would be the procedure in this very rare instance.

In this case, comparing head-to-head results would have the same effect, since all five players are tied, and would have 2 wins each.

A good resolution for what, sometimes, appear to be luck-based 1v1 games.

Good question ;)

So... we ended up in this scenario.. does this mean the last 2 alive advance?

Correct. Players will be ranked according to their performance in the game, so the last two alive will advance. The third place player qualifies for an additional Wildcard game against another third place player from another division, to advance.

We're chugging along, reaching those Finals slowly but surely.

The African, Asian, and South American leagues ALL have officially finished play; the 6 finalists emerging from those three leagues have been determined.

Congratulations to

for arriving at the World Qualifiers stage, the last test before the Final! =D>

Let it be known that we still await eight more finalists, from the remaining two leagues still in action: Europe and North America.

(Woah, already December! :o )

December 6 Update

Well, my friends, another hurdle down, really just a few more games until we reach those mighty, elusive World Cup Qualifiers, where the 14 best players of the tournament can finally battle it out on Classic in hopes of earning that berth in the 6-player, traditional risk-taking-style World Cup Final!

Indeed, I would like to take this time to apologize for the minor delays we have had in this competition. I had hoped for the Cup to end before Christmas, but it looks like I'll have to call on my good friend "2013" and ask the new year to be so kind as to allow the Qualifiers to run. Wouldn't be so bad, would it? A new year, dreams and hopes high...

So, I expect the Qualifiers to begin around January 1, and the overall tourney to conclude in February, a month or two over schedule.

Regardless, you need not fear abandonment, my friends. It is never good to really abandon anything, except for a sinking ship, and play WILL continue. None of WC4J's will ever abandon. Ever. You'll see. ;)

Stay tuned for more updates as the final league games in North America and Europe conclude.

December 6

The second round of the European League Finals is underway!

Yes. Europe has finished (so the winners of these 4 player games have advanced to the World Cup Qualifers).

Game 12041189
Game 12041190

But, North America is still in play. One 5-player game is finished (Game 12054542) but the other North America game is still ongoing (Game 12209288).

Once this game is finished, then the 4-player games for North America will begin, and then once those are done, the World Cup Qualifers commence.

Very sorry for the in-game delays, North America is a very large map.

January 27 Update

Well, perfect timing, the last of the 5-player NA games has finished, so we're on to the second phase of the North American League Finals. Once that finishes, it's time for the world stage--Classic map World Qualifiers!

February 9 Update

February 9 Update

February 9

Round 1 of World Qualifiers created!

Finally the time has come for the final fourteen players to embark upon the international level matchups, after passing the tedious trials, tribulations, and tests of continental play.

All now have an equal chance and all face the equally challenging games posed in these three rounds of qualification. The big game will only be a reality for six of you!

So, as for the format, it's very-straightforward,

  • 14 players arrive, and are split randomly into the 2 Standard games of 7 players, that you've been invited to.
  • The winners secure their berth in the final.

  • The remaining 12 split into 2 games of 6 players apiece.
  • Winners join in on the Final.

  • Finally, the last 10 fight on against in 2 games of 5 players.
  • Those winners sneak into the Final as well as the last of the 6 finalists.

The remaining 8 go home empty-handed, just one test short of the Final!

Here's the randomization for the first pair of 7-player games.

Randomization, Games A and B

So, the games are,

will_mp40 has failed to join the World Cup Qualifier Game 12338205. As a result, in an effort to conserve tournament time, I have randomly determined a player from the corresponding European League from which puppydog85 advanced from to replace him.

List of Players Who Lost in European League Finals
1. CashPills
2. Armandolas
3. Madstuthe1st
4. deantursx
5. Milen83
6. rosco23

Random Integer Generator

Here are your random numbers:

Timestamp: 2013-02-17 00:27:39 UTC

As a result, Milen83 continues play in place of puppydog85.

Best of luck for all those in the Qualifiers!

March 13

Round 2 of World Qualifiers created!

Two Americans from North America

Round 1 saw North American dominance as the two players advancing came from not only the North American League, but also, incidentally, reside in the USA. They both took the victories in Games A and B, and so we now continue to the second round, of 6-player Standard games on Classic.

The format remains the same,

  • The remaining 12 split into 2 games of 6 players apiece.
  • Winners join in on the Final.

  • Finally, the last 10 fight on against in 2 games of 5 players.
  • Those winners sneak into the Final as well as the last of the 6 finalists.

Here's the randomization for the 6-player games.

The below list is the same as used in Round 1, except the winners have been removed and Milen83 has replaced inactive will_mp40's place on the list.

Randomization, Games C and D

Round 3 of World Qualifiers created!

Red Prevails

In both the games of Round 2, the red-colored players triumphed and won their berths in the Final (overlander and cooldeals). Onwards we go, to the third and last round before the Final; 2 5-player Standard games on Classic! :o

The format remains the same,

  • The remaining 10 split into 2 games of 5 players apiece.
  • Winners join in on the Final.

Here's the randomization for the 5-player games.
