I realise I wasn't very clear, but I don't mean those suffering may think God doesn't exist. My post was directed at Falkomagno.

My comment is a deeply ontological reflexion about the existence of God. His response, in the other hand is a childish flame. I don’t see how you rather the former.

Why is there no talk about how Brangelina have given more money to the relief than the CHINA?? USA, who everyone hates, sends troops supplies and $100 million. Europe does nothing as usual. Why don't you send your universal healthcare down there?

Actually, there is a surprisingly low maximum amount of money the EU can send over or donate at a time or at least that's how it was reported in the media here in Belgium

I wouldn't be too surprised if in the end Europe will spend just as much or more for relief as the US - give these things time. Yes I realise time is of the essence in instances like this - but you shouldn't be so quick to judge just because you're biased for some reason

EDIT: also, this is right at the doorstep of the US - Europe is on another continent so the fact that the US was able to react quicker with the navy already in the area is only natural

Wow now the Haitian Prime Minister is saying probably more than 100,000 dead. That's about 1% of their entire population. That is horrible.

Also I was watching the news about the relief effort. The U.N. have areas set up to distribute food in a, more or less, orderly manner, then they showed an American helicopter swoop over a large crowded refuge camp and just start tossing out boxes of MREs into the crowd of hungry people. Needless to say pandemonium ensued, way to start a riot guys.

God allows things to happen based on what's in our hearts/minds. Personally He wouldn't be a God, He would be a total dictator whereas you would not have the freedoms you have to do what you want to do.

So how does the earthquake fit into God's plan?

The problem is, though, they are trying to set up aid stations, but it is nearly impossible to get the aid to said stations because all of the roads are blocked.

The helicopter way of just dropping stuff off is one of the few ways they've been able to get needed supplies to certain parts of the city, so it is better than nothing.

You said what?

Also Haiti is right next to the USA, its obvious that they donate more and by my reckoning the European nations have donated around $70m with the EU itself still to commit money (and it has huge humanitarian aid reserves) and some prominant countries (like France) chose to send rescue and expert teams rather then commit money. Thats at least 70% of the US contribution, and how much do you think the USA would contribute if there was a horrific earthquake in the Balkans or North Africa? Unless it was an ally or strategic country, I doubt anything close to the European contribution.

If you live in the UK and sign up to the MoneySavingExpert's weekly email before Sunday 24th January, they will donate 50p to the Disasters Emergency Committee. It's spam free and you can of course cancel your subscription after receiving your first issue, but to be honest I find it quite useful.

Anyway here's the link for those who may be interested: http://www.moneysavingexpert.com/site/haiti-appeal

Hmmm a very tragic world event. Right up there with the huge tidal wave tsunami incident which was felt across the world not that long ago. Haiti was a country very much pushed into the back corners of society and not many people payed attention to it.

Now look at it.

And yes, the U.S. always send more than most. They are like that. They are always poking their nose into everything. A couple of world wars, Iraq, and so on. Then of course they have to send when things like this happen, being the worlds "greatest" "super power" etc.

I would not wish the events of Haiti upon anyone and I hope that the situation stabilises and eases. Hopefully, our money will actually help.

The following artists have released new songs for free download if you donate money to their Haiti Relief Fund:

Linkin Park, Dave Matthews Band, Peter Gabriel, Alanis Morissette, Slash,
The All-American Rejects, Hoobastank, Kenna, Enrique Iglesias and Lupe Fiasco
team up with Music For Relief to aid earthquake victims.

Go to http://www.musicforrelief.org/ to get the music.

Pretty cool.
