You're going offthe new topic... I think.

And tgd, after reading the last three pages I think pd is more qualified to talk about schools of economics than you are.

Greek has displayed pages and pages of econ posts, not even getting into right or wrong.

I have maybe seen one post from Dave in an attempt to get all economic on someones azz.

Greek is the winner on volume/participation alone

By that logic, the village idiot is the smartest person in town, because he's always running his mouth.

Oh wait, my bad, didn't mean to give any credibility to Glenn Beck like that.

I think he's more qualified to talk about the names of schools of economics than I am. And apparently you didn't read the last three pages of this thread since we didn't actually discuss economics in any way, shape, or form.

I don't know if I'm more qualified than pimpdave. I've certainly posted more on the subject than pimpdave. I'm also readily willing to admit I don't know something. As I stated in this thread, I didn't know that the economic theory I believe in was from Chicago; I didn't know that clever people referred to Atlas Shrugged as Chicago Economics pornography; I didn't know that a neurologist was a successful hedge fund manager. There are a lot of things I don't know; there are a lot of things about economics I don't know.

In any event, volume and participation does not make one an expert.

'Expert' actually also had a verb form (hundreds of years ago), in addition to noun and adjective forms. The verb's definition was: 'To experience; to know by experience'---coming from Latin experīrī 'to try/experience.'

Not relevant to discussion at hand really, but I've always been interested in words, word origins, and how words change over time.

But maybe this is something else you didn't know, TGD! :D I'll add to your knowledge if you didn't already.

New Clips!

Brief description: In this scene early in the film, Dagny Taggart confronts her brother James about the need to upgrade a rail line. It illustrates the difference between objectivity and second-hand thinking.

You're going offthe new topic... I think.

And tgd, after reading the last three pages I think pd is more qualified to talk about schools of economics than you are.

<reads past three pages>

Where's the economics?

And why do you hold that opinion? Because pimpdave spouts off nonsense and makes superficial claims, "I studied economics!" (what kind? what did he learn, if anything?) "HA, YOUR AN IDIOT FOR ASKING QUESTIONS TO CLARIFY THE MEANING OF SOMEONE ELSE'S POSTS!!" (see: my Q to tobinov). It's pd trolling. Come on.

Instead of economics, pimpdave seems to be qualified in the art of rhetoric if he can convince you of his alleged knowledge on schools of economics. (if you look back, he doesn't really explain what the Chicago school even is). (seriously? You gotta be trolling tgd here.)

(oh lewl, responding to a one-year old post. But still MeDeFe's post doesn't make sense).

I puffy-hearted that exchange with pimpdave. It reminded me of SultanofSurreal. I wish both of those guys would come back and post, if only so I could engage in this sort of banter.
