FYI, all three copies have been claimed.

Playing Alan Wake...finding parts of it pretty tough...wish I would have picked an easier setting...

Dragon Age Inquisition. Holy crap. It is good, but there are quests where if you stumble on them while at a low level, you will die. Like dragons. Ran into a nest of them, and they one shotted me at level 5. Also, it takes awhile to level up.

And playing as a Qunari mage leads to some interesting commentary throughout the game so far.

And multi-player, kind of similar to the Mass Effect 3 multi-player in that 4 people team up to face on hordes in several varying levels of difficulty against a horde type situation, with various characters to unlock. However, 2 things.

1. When I tried playing, most matches I joined people either voted to kick me or refused to start it.
2. When you finally get into a match, make sure to stay with your team, particularly if you are a new comer or low level. Why? Because you will get slaughtered. You will get swarmed and your attacks will do very little damage.

But so far, I am really liking the single player. Even the companions are pretty cool. And I think I like Iron Bull (Qunari companion) better than Sten in Dragon Age Origins. Also, an elf rogue companion who may be on a constant caffeine high with a Cockney accent (I think).

On steam, it seems Chivalry Medieval Warfare is free to install for the next day or so.

Picked up a couple of games that have been on my Waitlist. Spintires, some EU4 DLC, The Vanishing of Ethan Carter. This, plus Transistor, Kairo, plus some old games I need to go back to like Wasteland 2 and Divinity Original Sin, should keep me good until the steam x-mas sale.

It's like a 3rd person shooter, except from what I can tell you start with only a sword and you make aimed shots with it. Probably fun if you still like shooters. I have it already, and I will play with you if you want. It's made by Paradox, which generally only have good strategy games, it came with humble bundle.

Unfortunately I have very little time right now. I do enjoy some other Paradox games, but with recently getting Insurgency (thanks Prowler!) my time is gone. Literally. That and two nasty five letter words called "FINALS" and "ESSAY" are plaguing me right now.

www.Gog.com is having their big Winter Sale. Keep an eye out for anything you'd like -- old or new.

Some (newish) discounted games I always suggest or will newly suggest, in no particular order:
  • Divinity Original Sin
  • Costume Quest
  • FTL
  • Kentucky Route Zero
  • Broken Age
  • The Vanishing of Ethan Carter
  • Machinarium
  • Botanciula
  • Gone Home
  • Lifeless Planet
  • Fez
  • Banished
  • Stacking

So, Dragon Age Inquisition. Dragon Age 2 had issues, primarily with repetitive areas, romance options popping up out of nowhere, and enemies dropping out of the sky. Dragon Age Origins, while still good with good characters (many of whom have roles, along with DA2 characters, in DAI) felt clunky and slow in combat. And as a personal preference, a functional mute as your character. DAI has massive areas to explore (not quite like Skyrim, but each open in their own way), voiced characters, multiple races (including Qunari) to choose from, interesting companions, many new, but some had roles in previous games, each with their own background, a fixed friend/romance option on the dialogue wheel so you don't get stuck with either romancing or pissing off a companion when you just wanted to be friends, and a very cool story and side quests that actually matter.

The reviews for this game all rate it high, and with reason. This game easily contends for game of the year. I just wished you had more options for hair as a Qunari, as other than the horns (all of which are cool BTW) there is no long hair option. But otherwise, this game is awesome. Very immersive. Slow start, but once you get past the prologue, that's when you see the game in all it's glory.

Gog.com is essentially trying to turn itself into the non-drm game delivery service to counter steam's 'sort of' drm. They also do movies now. Go figure.

Can you give me one reason to buy FTL at gog.com and not get it at Steam?

gog.com isn't little people. Also, they fucked me over by starting to sell abandonware, making it harder to come by. gog.com did for games what Disney did for art.

I got it in a humble bundle a couple years back; I just recently re-downloaded and I see there is now an advanced mode. Also, some things are different (you can save crew positions, for example).

Speaking of which; this week the bundle is a bunch of sim games. That was my favorite genre for years and years, I think I am pretty much simmed out now. I will still put on the occasional flight simulation; just to keep my skills honed.

I finished Alan Wake. I liked it.

I'm playing Baldur's Gate Enhanced Edition. Never player any Baldur's Gate before, but I played Icewind Dale a long time ago...which I understand is based in the same "world"...but I don't really remember it too much...

I'm enjoying Baldur's Gate a little too much...42 hours and counting. I think I spend too much time looting weapons and armour and going back to town to sell the stuff, then renting a room for the night...so I spend a lot of time travelling back and forth....I'm going to start just camping out to rest.

The Bridge is 79 cents on Humble right now...I splurged.

The Bridge is worth it. I think I paid a couple of bucks for it a year or so ago. It is a nice little diversion. Games on my list that I need to start or need to play more of since I haven't yet sunk in much time:

  • Never Alone
  • Dear Esther
  • Valiant Hearts
  • Transistor
  • Spintires

Also, this Xmas break I plan firing up EU4 with some new expansions...

Minecraft on a multiplayer server. A lot better than single player at times. The only exceptions are when the occasional griefer that gets on and screws with someone (happens with most servers), or finding a promising cave system only to find it already explored. Otherwise, I enjoy it.

I think Dear Esther only takes about an hour....but there's a good chance that you'll want to "play" through it a second time...

I forgot to mention that I'm playing Awesomenauts now and then online...it's pretty fun.
