Yes. It's the Democratic Party.

Does that also make the Democratic Party the Republican Party?

Should they just change their name(s) to Demopublican or Remocratic or some such?

Doesn't this make sense given that we are a [r]epublican form of government? This makes everyone's vote worth much more as my vote is just going against other votes in my district. I would prefer every state change to this method, though I recognize each state's right to make this decision. This method will also give a third party a much better chance at making a difference because we all know third parties can easily win certain districts but never stand a chance at winning an entire state.

People in blue Austin Texas really don't even get a vote because they are watered out by every other district, just as the red area of Northern CA is completely irrelevant when paired up against San Fran & LA. Now politicians have to ensure they are liked by a majority of people in a majority of districts, rather than just worrying about a handful of 'battleground' states.

The grades tied to Welfare thing is just ridiculous though, I'll give you that any day of the week.

lol, too bad PS isn't here to enjoy this single case of voter fraud.

New Jersey Governor Vetoes Minimum Wage Increase

New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie (R) today vetoed an increase in the minimum wage that was passed by the state’s Democratic senate. Using what’s known as a “conditional veto,” Christie sent the bill back saying he would sign it if certain changes were made, including: shrinking the increase from $8.50 to $8.25 per hour, phasing it in over three years, and eliminating a provision tying the wage to inflation.

New Jersey’s current minimum wage stands at $7.25, so Christie’s veto, in essence, is saying that he believes a $1 increase in the wage over three years is sufficient. As the New Jersey Policy Perspective noted, “the first year increase proposed by the governor of 25 cents will be erased by inflation by the time the third year kicks in its 25 cents.

That would be a 5.5% increase over three years, national average is 3%. Now you aren't even happy with 150% of the national average at 4.5%? Anyone making minimum should get twice the raise as those who aren't making minimum wage? Why stop at $8.50? Why not make minimum wage $17.00 like WalMart is paying employees in the booming state of ND?

You are correct on your statement but even WalMart has to pay employees $17 an hour to attract people to work because the state is booming because, wait for it, OIL...

http://www.startribune.com/local/188503971.html

Gordon Weyrauch, manager of Williston Home & Lumber, said it's hard to keep good employees even at $16 an hour: "Seems like when you get somebody that's really good, there's always another company stealing them away."

A sign outside the local Wal-Mart advertises starting wages of $17 an hour.

The one that they can justify starting someone at $17 an hour for. If the Star Tribune didn't call out a certain position, you can be guaranteed there is a reason for it. I would definitely assume cashier, box boy, or greeter unless you can find out otherwise. It is definitely a left leaning paper.

No, I'm not happy with the national "average" and you shouldn't be either. A national average could be far lower than what's needed to live on in New Jersey; I don't know what the pay that's needed is, and you can find it since it's for your argument.
Besides this, the national average is below the rate of inflation, and so does the proposed increase which the article articulated, so anyone living on minimum wage would be perpetually impoverished, no matter how hard they work... and that leads to people living on welfare of various sorts.

It's reckless and ridiculous to argue that people should be kept below the national average "just because." This isn't an argument about fairness.

Meanwhile CEO pay is up more than 725% since 1978, while everyone else's wages are up 5.7%. How does that 5.7% compare to inflation since '78? You should be angry about this, and more supportive of the American worker.

New Jersey actually ranks 11th in the nation for income disparity between rich and poor.

So don't you attack or blame American workers/producers.

The minimum wage was not initially put in place to live on and support a family, over the years people slowly started to think that's what it is for.

What are the stats on Public employees, Union bosses, and even public unions?
