Whoops, I never actually bothered to count. I would be down for freeciv as long as it's the same gameplay.

It's exactly the same.

This weekend (maybe Friday) I will create a PBEM tutorial. Nietzsche can set up the game. Everyone post what nation you want here.

I want Random

Things we need to decide:
Isometric (like civ 2), grid or hex map? I like to random this one
Size of map? Something not too big, I like to keep the pressure on
Civ 2 tech tree or slightly updated one (it has workers which don't cost food, so I prefer it)
Computer players? I say no
Raging hordes of barbarians? I say yes. I also vote that they start at turn 1, which most people think is totally cruel
Should we allow the game to unbalance based on tiny islands? I say yes

In theory you could play with someone else through Skype who has the software installed. There is an android phone app. Alternately, we can figure out why you cant install it.

my computer won't install anything on the hard drive. I don't think I ever have been able to, but that's what I get for buying a second hand computer for 50$

Curious. Have you tried troubleshooting this? Have you tried pirating a new copy of windows and reinstalling it?

No. I could probably get my whiz buddy to do something about it. I already know he will probably just say to get a new computer, but I usually only do that when one is totally broken and starts pissing me off.

Well you can install FreeCiv on the library/school/fire dept. computers and then play that way.

Yeah, you guys can count me out if we're playing FreeCiv. I tried that at one point and didn't like it at all. I especially don't like how you can build cities as close together as you want to.

It doesn't apply here since it will be all human players, but the damn AI civs were building cities 1 square away from each other the whole game...you end up with some small-medium island that has 15-20 cities on it...ridiculous.

There is a setting called "minimum city distance". We can set it to whatever you like.

Greece.

Other than that... I'm not sure about the barbarians.

I didn't like FreeCiv. Just sayin'

Yeh, so I'd said to give me a week, because I was supposed to be getting a new computer, but it's still not ready. :( It's been stuffing me around quite a bit actually. In other words I won't be able to join until I'm settled in with that. Whenever that might be. I hope soon.

Yea, that's going to be a divisive issue. I'm all for getting 3 turns into the game and being dead. Some other players aren't so keen on that in multiplayer.

Just so everyone knows what I mean:

There are 4 levels of barbarian activity. The lowest level is off. The highest level will see barbarians come most frequent, but also in stronger groups.

Also, you can control the barbarian onset turn. So, if we decided for high levels of barbarians, we could prevent them from coming until turn 50.

So, unfortunately, I can't figure out how to set up this type of server. It sucks for PBEM because there isn't hotseat functionality and therefore the computer takes all turns. So we have to play Civ 2 I guess. We will start 2 games.

Everyone below pick if you want to play in the normal game, scenario game or both.

I pick Scenario.
