… an annual recognition given to those for their lifetime of contributions to American culture. There have been 178 recipients to date of the awards. Each year past honorees present recommendations for proposed honorees to the Board of Trustees of the John F. Kennedy Center. The Trustees selections are forwarded to the President who bestows the awards. Three persons offered the award have declined. Katharine Hepburn declined the committee's first offer, though she relented in 1990. Irving Berlin had to appear in person to receive the award, however, he was in failing health, being confined to wheelchair, following a series of strokes, and could not attend any public event. Vladimir Horowitz was to be an honoree, but the selection committee withdrew the offer when Horowitz conditioned his acceptance on being honored alone and at 4:00 in the afternoon.

I actually had to search for it. I know from experience that that is Scott's favourite defense to the seemingly regular accusations of racism he receives. When I read that last post there, it just reminded me of all those times, so I went and grabbed the most recent example.

The guy is such a joke, that it's not even worth arguing with him anymore. Occasionally having a laugh at his hypocrisy is really the only thing he's good for, these days.
