The more I read about the interwar period, the more lunatic it seems.

It seems the main idea was that every nationality needed its own nation. Except the nationalities are totally made up concepts, not backed by either history or genetics. I have often said I am half German and half Czech, but in reality, those aren't two seperate races. America should apologize for having a hand in this mess. No wonder the Euro is so shaky, the entire premise of the countries in Europe is based on bullshit.

I have always said that everything is invented in America. The sushi I eat, the movies we watch. Even cultural things. For example the kilt wasn't popularized until an American wrote about it. The very concept of national identity and the borders of europe was invented in America.

Sounds like someone just finished learning about the League of Nations... or American exceptionalism... or both. But I doubt both since the League of Nations and American exceptionalism seem to be counterweight factors.

Well, there is a lot to address in your statment.

First, I blame Kaiser Wilhelm, for putting Bismark out to pasture too soon, -if he would have listened to him WWI would never have happened in the first place.
Secondly, the holocaust roots go WAY back, try reading "Through a distant mirror", every time anything went wrong, the Euros blamed the jews and killed them,-- assuming they weren't borrowing money from them,.. and even then...

Borders?? What borders aren't made up to some extent.

As for Wilson,... yes, even when lucid he was pretty much a schmuck.

Ok quick history lesson. Kilts were a HIGHLAND warriors outfit. They were illegal for many years, and by the time people were allowed to wear them again, 9 out of 10 scots were now lowland scots. However, George, and Walter worked to popularize the kilt so that it is now worn by non-highland, non-warrior scots. Basically, the popular image of what a kilt means and of when it is acceptable to wear one comes from an American. Yes, they were worn before. But the resurgence can be narrowed down to one portrait and one man writing about them.

For a modem example: nobody wears a outercoat with a cape anymore. If Johnny Depp wore one, and then it became popular, we can credit JD with the popularity of them, right? Not the tailor who invented them in the 1850s (or whenever it was).

To talk about the americanism of sir Walter Scott, he did great stuff in scotland, England and america.

Since america > Britain though, he gets to identify as an american.

In much the same way, since America > Canada, alexander graham bell was an American and so is the telephone.

So americans are responsible for everything, but only if you claim everybody was american?

Woodrow Wilson: Progressive hero.

Progressives should apologize, Teddy Roosevelt should apologize. America as a whole, well, I have to assume that there were even more Americans concerned about the progressive movement than there are now, so I don't think America should apologize. I'm sure there were plenty of Americans protesting Wilson and his extremely racist and progressive policies at the time, just the same as those who now loudly protest Obama. Plus, there were many more at the time who were pro-Liberty, but did not see or refused to believe Woodrow Wilson's Progressivism, or believed his promises, such as "the income tax rate will never exceed 3%! And only the richest of the rich will have to pay it!" That lasted about as long as the Obamacare promises are going to. Around 36 months.

Lies only need to be kept alive until the end of the politicians term. Then they go away, everyone hates them, but they crammed it up our asses nonetheless.
