ok ,so if we dont like what you say, caqn we ban you,he has every right to say what he wants

Obviously, this is a case where his rights clash with our rights. Given he is a Brit, I don't think he is going to win this one in America

I'm really confused - are we signing the petition to (a) try to get Piers Morgan deported, or are we signing the petition to (b) get Barack Obama to personally explain the current immigration law, or are we signing the petition to (c) express dissatisfaction with Piers Morgan and ask for a change of programming? If "C" shouldn't the petition go to CNN instead of the White House? (If not, and the White House is the correct venue to make TV programming decisions, someone needs to let me know because I'm still mad NBC cancelled The Event.)

all of the above. Deportation, well, that's just kind of funny. I did not sign the petition, but it's the equivalent I suppose of getting a million likes on facebook or something, in that I hope a lot of people do sign it, hopefully sending him a message, in a speech like kind of way

Anyone who is aware of the underground campaign against Glenn Beck, just wait cuz you aint seen nothin yet

#1 Piers is not a U.S. Citizen. He is on a passport
#2 It's not punishment, it's consequences. Speech is not without consequence. Ask Chic-Fil-A

oh, it's ok to ingore the principles in the constitution in order to punish a non citizen for criticizing the principles in the constitution, makes sense.

What law says you can be deported for criticising the constitution?

There isn't a law. We are going to escort him out ourselves

Not ignoring our principles. Just acknowledging that Brit's have their rights, and Americans have our rights.

so he's done nothing wrong, broke no laws. you just want to arbitrarily deport him for saying things you don't like, but you haven't turned your back on the principle of free speech.

Care to explain how you are following the principle of free speesch as put forth in the constitution?

Let me put it this way. What would you, BVP, say/do, if a foreign broadcaster were promoting a severely rabid anti-gay message, instead of a severely rabid anti-gun message in your country?

I would contact the broadcaster and say I find the views being portrayed on the networked abhorrent and would not be watching their channels any more. I would not write my government and ask them to deport them(unless they were trying to incite homophobic attacks at which point they should be deported).

About the petition, it's just to pressure the white house into a statement.

oh so you only pretend want to violate the principles of the constitution to punsih a foreinger for criticising a principle of the constitution so you can pressure the white hous into makeing a statement on a political issue. you seem so much more reaonable now

I'm not violating shit. I can push back as hard as I want to, and Piers can push even harder. It is what it is

There are consequences to speech, especially from Americans unto anti-American speech

So you aren't violating the concept of free speech by threatening action against people who commit "anti-american" speech?  you can't make this up.

By pressuring your government to deport him for the audacity of speaking his mind. This isn't a letter saying I oppose your views, or a petition to his network to pull him for x y and z. You are asking your government to punish him for saying things you don't like. spin and twist all you want. That's the ugly truth here.

It doesn't matter that he's foreing. it doesn't matter that he's an ass. it doesn't even matter that there some sort of conspiracy against glen beck. You are asking your government to punish someone for what they say. Yet have the gall to call others anti-american. ridiculous. The onion couldn't make this up.

I for one dislike the man intensely and fail to see why he got a spot on US tv or why he escaped prosecution in the phone tapping Murdoch case.
He is an ass.
You, Phatscotty are not always an ass. I seem to remember agreeing with you at least once or twice.
but in this case, I would support his right to say something (whatever I think about it) over your right to shut him up.
I mean, I've heard of" ass-kicking" competitions, but at this point you and Piers seem to have entered an "ass-being" contest.

We are going to start letting him know that we don't like what he is saying, just the way anyone else would.

Won't be long, one way or another, most likely the way Saxi described

I have no problem with telling him your opinion, or encouraging a whole bunch of people to do so. But I'd rather sign Saxi's petititionto turn Voyager around.
And please have mercy on the UK, they've put up with him most of his life. Send him somewhere else.

This petition seems to be all over the headlines. This will likely give Piers the boost in publicity needed to salvage him from his current state of obscurity and imminent cancellation.

A year from now he may look back on this as the thing that saved him. Piers gets to keep his posh dressing room, dinners at MEGU and chauffeured Town Cars instead of getting thrown back into the dustbin of British state TV celebrity in which he'd share a communal changing room with the cast of Cuckoo and perks include things like a complimentary tube pass and the occasional black pudding baked by the producer's mother.
