Five Ws

Postby / on Sat Feb 23, 2013 6:32 pm

Most of us are probably familiar with the
Five Ws

Who is it about?
What happened?
When did it take place?
Where did it take place?
Why did it happen?

All five are important, but which one do you tend to give priority to?
For me it's usually "Why". I find the motives and precursors for a situation very interesting. It seems like the most unpredictable variable to me, since thought processes between people can differ so greatly.
Perhaps it doesn't really matter in many cases, but it's fascinating to be able to deconstruct a situation down to cause and effect.

I'm for the "Why" as well for pretty much the same reasons(causation/motivation). I'd say the "When" is the least interesting for me since for the most part I'm not much of a history buff and even those areas of history that I am interested in, it's more the lifestyles of the time that interest me rather than how far away in years it may be.

Cause and effect and trigger, I find to be important.

Also, how.

But answering the questions totally depends on the context of the question. As does choosing the questions.
