My opinion is biased to be sure, but I still think people are overlooking the Phillies, of course I could be wrong and their pitching could be shot... having started 2-5. :/ Hamels will figure himself out, Doc is shot, and the rest of the rotation should be more than good enough. The bullpen needs work before Papelbon and Addams. The offense will be better if Howard can be more patient at the plate and once Ruiz gets back, they have already been better to be sure, but they still really need a right handed powerbat, so it will be interesting to see how Delman Young does once he gets off the DL.

I know I'm probably wishing for the best here, and contradicted myself more than a few times, but I really have to hold on to that hope, and I know that April is just gonna suck for the Phils... they just have to pull it all together come May and hope that haven't totally screwed themselves by then.

As a fellow Phillies fan, I'm of the opposite opinion. There are two types of Philadelphia fans, in my opinion: overly optimistic and overly pesimistic. I'm the latter. Before spring training, I thought the Phillies would end up around .500 and miss the playoffs. I was convinced that the Braves and Nationals had improved dramatically and the Phillies had improved only a little.

After spring training, I was looking at the Phillies as ending up below .500 because of Halladay. I'm still at about that point. There are too many "ifs" in any positive commentary about the Phillies. I think they'll hit better, but I don't see the pitching beyond Hamels and Lee improving. To be fair, the Royals and Braves are good teams. I was not happy with yesterday's performance (although Harvey is a stud-in-the-making).

Well my prediction of the Angels winning the West took a wrong turn. Weaver is out 4-6 weeks with a broken elbow(non throwing).

Is it me or MLB batters have gotten much more professional the last years?

I think there are a ton of good batters. Professional, disciplined, smart.. not only the big names anymore, many, many batters are very good.

And what about the closers? A lot of teams struggling to find a decent closer.

The Braves are sharing the wealth of bad closers that they had for a while (Our closers the last few years have been decent to good but there was a stretch I want to say from when Smoltz returned to the starting line up to 2010 where we had a lot of subpar, injured or inconsistent closers).

Glad the Braves are doing well so far this year (last team with only one loss), we'll see how they do through the season with a strong in division opponent. So far the Uptons have been doing well for us. Pau Maholm is also one of two starting pitchers to have not given up a run (the other being Kershaw for the Dodgers)

Oh I like Kimbrel. It was some of his predecessors who had trouble. We've been solid at the closer spot for a few years now and the difference has shown in our record.

The Braves entire bullpen is scary. O'Flaherty is like kryptonite to Utley and Howard.

Like I said earlier, the Braves are my pick to win the World Series. Mike Minor looks pretty good in the early going. Teheran had a good spring. They'll get another veteran starter by the trade deadline and there really isn't a need to upgrade anywhere else. That young catcher (Gettis?) is playing well too.

Sox are doing very well. Again, this season depends 100% on our pitching...our offense, especially with Papi who's 14-27 since he's come back, will be there.

Ortiz has been very very impressive (he's on my fantasy team). It looks like as he gets older he gets better. Or uses better PEDs.

Lester and Bucholz are doing great. Dubront and Dempster meh. Lackey super sucks. Next move from the GM is probably get Bedard again and probaly Ubaldo.
