In your struggle, what arguments were battling it out? I might be able to clarify.

(1) I should care whether there were 12 tribes struggling for control of ancient Israel.
(2) I should not care whether there were 12 tribes struggling for control of ancient Israel.

I voted the latter, probably because I don't know why I should care about something that may or may not have happened thousands of years ago. I hope that helps you help me.

I'm not sure, it's clearly something you care about now, but you seem conflicted about whether you "should" care.

I care because I don't understand why you care. You still haven't explained why you care and I've asked twice already.

You care because I care? Will the third time be on bended knee?

I'm blushing because you keep not answering the question; it's puzzling. I mean, seriously, you started this thread. I'm just an ignorant bystander who is trying to understand.

Aww, and you don't even mention the question you want me to answer.

So do you require that someone repeat a question to you 3+ times in real life as well before giving a straight answer?

What question? You also didn't mention it.

Hmmm. I seem to have misplaced the umbrella I would normally use to keep out of drips of sarcasm. Oh well. Cheers mate, I'll slink back into the shadows and leave you to your trolling!

so I don't have a map Sym, but what's your position on the multitude of tribes of Native Americans reclaiming their "ancient" (aka 200something years ago) territories?

No idea, although I can point you towards some people who claimed they were the 13th tribe.

heh... I could point you to some people who'd gladly sell you land off the coast of hawaii (no seriously) and we'd both get about as much out of it...

What's your position?

my position is that judgement day will have come and gone long before there's ever any resolution to the conflict there
