So much angst over such a non-issue.
In or out of the EU, Britain will still be a major part of Europe. It's like camping in your own back yard. You still have to come in the house to take a shower and eat breakfast.
Britain's trade relations with various European countries aren't going to go away. They might become slightly more expensive.
Britain isn't going to cease being consulted on issues of regional security. They might have a slightly more complex process to go through.
Brits aren't going to stop vacationing in Mallorca. They might have to show their passport.
It's all a tempest in a teapot. Yes, it's dumb for them to leave the EU. It would be somewhat more convenient for the Brits to stay in the EU and not have to go through all kinds of negotiations over tariffs and things, but in the end that's exactly what it is -- an issue of convenience, not an issue of life-and-death.
