DON'T GET IT! i had both the 1st gen shuffle and the 2nd gen, and i tell you the 1st gen was much cooler, because it had a battery power check button. the 2nd gen doesn't. also, there's no USB connector directly on the shuffle, it has to be on a dock. so if you forget the dock somewhere like on a trip, you're DEEAAADDD

I don't have one. And I'm not sure if I still have my walkman. I have a chocolate, but I don't put songs on it. I put most of my songs on my comp. Then again, I use two, and not all of them are on both. And I don't go out. Also I use some tapes so I think I'll anwser this question with:

i have a 20g clickwheel one. I'd like something a bit bigger storagewise because every time i get a new album i have to take something off just to fit it in that and its starting to get tempermental on me, battery life is still good, i just have to reboot it all the time

I used to also until I couldn't find a portable mp3 player that had as good sound quality without using the eq's. I bought into it and now use iTunes - even though I can't stand it. About 80gb's worth of music though - all tagged w/ album art !

I had a 30g and completely filled it and had to leave off most my library. then I lost it. I'm saving up for an 80gb because I have about 60gb of music and I'll just fill the rest with video until I have 80gb of music.

True story: only last night, I was out for a run in my quiet market town, when, as I crossed the road, a car moving at very high speed missed hitting me by barely a metre. Although I'd clocked the car a split-second earlier, I hadn't reckoned on its unexpectedly high speed.

Another split-second later, and I saw that the car was being chased by the rozzers, sirens apparently blazing.

Thing is, I'd been wearing my (2Gb nano) ipod, and had effectively been unaware of any of the audio cues (sirens, loud engines) that might have alerted me to the highly dangerous car-chase situation.

Maybe I can contrive some grounds on which to sue Apple for my untimely almost-demise. Hmm.

I have a Zune and my girlfriend has a Zen. Of all them Zen is by far the best purely because it appears as a drive on your PC, you can copy anything onto it, it syncs automagically with media player and explorer not requiring software just to sync your mp3 player and doesn't mess with your tunes into some proprietary format and naming convention which both Apple and Microsoft offerings do... the usability is not so hot though...

Probably not. Have you read their EULA? Not that I expect you too, but there were several articles about the seemingly redundant things it covers. it's quite amazingly comprehensive. If you for example listen to "It's Time To Bomb Saddam" (naturally a very patriotic thing) you could probably be sued for encouraging violence in connection with your ipod.
