nietsche. dude don't stab my heart lol! that video with that sad music is too hard to watch! Just remembering the awesome team we had from 98 to 06 and the spoiled brats we have today.... we even lost vs mexico in the past world cup!!
Imagine Zidane had scored that header that Buffon stopped in 2006...

tell me about it... Or simply if materazzi didn't score the equalizer in the first place, then said something to zidane about his 'ma minutes after the header of your video. We dominated the spaghetti eaters all game. Then my beloved Trezeguet failed in the penalty shootouts with the ball bouncing straight on the line...
I wonder if france will qualify for the next WC being in the same group as Spain... tough shit!

But France has a good team again don't they?
How many 2nd places qualify?

I think Zidane legacy is great but imagine if he had scored that header? Basically he came out of the retire in the national team to make France almost win another World Cup.
There's a similar story in Mexican Football, there's this player, Cuahtemoc Blanco who is the most representative player in the history of America FC, my team. He didn't win much with America though, only one title, but he was the greatest. Total idol. After the injury the butcher from Trinidad y Tobago gave him, he lost much speed but gained a lot of timing. Due to the injury he came back to play in Mexico for America.
In his last season with America, because of his age and he would continue to play in the MLS, he took the team to the final. He scored the equalizer with a tremendous free kick, it was so great the moment that the narrators of the rival TV station couldn't stop licking his balls, and he later gave Cabanas a pass to score the winning goal, but he missed. Later the same Cabanas was fouled in the area in a clear penalty the referee didn't want to give. They finally lost the game.
It was the final game of Cuauhtemoc with America, people cried. I cried and drank a bottle of whisky by myself.
Zidane should've scored that goal. Cuauhtemoc should've retired winning that title. Ronaldo should've scored that goal when he dribled like 5 in the area and the ball hit the post.

No, CLINT Dempsey. The best American footballer not named Donovan or Howard.

basically for europe you have 9 groups, 1sts are qualified and the 8 best 2nds go to playoffs home and away and 4 teams qualify. All groups are of 6 teams except the group offrance and spain tha is of 5 teams. but from what I understood and to not make it unfair for the group with 5 teams, to compare 2nds they will remove results vs the teams finishing 6th in the 6 teams groups.
I don't know about france, I kind of had little hopes till the eurocup game vs ukraine where we played good. Then for the last game vs sweden we were ridiculous, but still qualified for quarter finals, then we were totally shit in quarter finals vs spain losing without even fighting. Blanc got sacked and now it's Deschamps. He's had pretty decent results so far, including a draw in spain vs spain and a win in italy vs italy in the last 2 games. The team has a terrible image since the WC 2010 in france, and they are struggling to be "likeable" again. We don't tolerate anymore any bad behaviour outside the pitch, and any little thing they do becomes a scandal here (like nasri asking the press to shut up with his hand when he scored vs england in the eurocup). They are all money hungry assholes only caring for their next club contract and how much more money they'll make. They have no respect for the blue jerzey nor for the one of the club that employs them. Their mentality is true shit. Those are the words of the 98' generation...
Anyway, how much longer do you guys think spain will stay on the top spot? I can't wait to see them lose!!!!

I think the headbut and the way we lost the final is now part of the legacy. Zidane was god, he proved he was only human. had he made that header, he would be considered without a doubt the best french player of all times a top 5 of all times; but today both of these statements can be argued.
of course I remember Blanco, mostly because of his frog jumps with the ball, the guy invented something!!! hey how does the mexican championship go, you guys have some groups and playoffs like americans would do, it's not a championship right?
ps: is cuhatemoc an aztec name??? never heard of other mexicans with aztec names!

The system is bullshit. It fosters mediocity. There have been some variants in the last years but basically we have 2 tournaments per year, in each teams play each other in one stadium only, and the first 8 (at some point the first 10) play each other in quaterfinals, home and away. You could have a team winning all his games in the regular season and then have a bad afternoon and end up eliminated. And for this same reason we have low quality games. At some point it was 4 groups and the first 2 of each group and the 2 best 3rds qualified.
The gold mine of the owners of the clubs still is the national team, but the last couple of years they've been trying to make changes in the league because people stopped watching. I myself stopped too 2-3 years ago. With Fox, ESPN and another local channel broadcasting games of Europe, the choice is simple.
And yes, Cuauhtemoc is an aztec name. There are a few people with those type of names.

so are you telling me that in mexico half of the teams in first division play just 1 game vs all the other teams then they are done for the season? lol. But mexican clubs win every year the north american champion's league and kick the but of mls teams right?

Well yes, but MLS teams are not such a big challenge. Mexico also plays as a guest in Copa Libertadores, which is the best tournament of the continent, but CONCACAF make the Mexican league to send not the best teams but the second best, because they want the best teams to play their shitty tournament. Nevertheless Mexico has been close to win the tournament despite having to deal with ridiculous rules like the one that says that if a Mexican team is in the final, no matter the position the final game must be in South America, or the fact that if both Mexican teams are in semifinals they have to face each other.

Also Newcastle has been very disappointing this season :/[/quote]
After the heroics of last season I was hoping for so much more from my beloved Magpies,ah well they've been breaking my heart for half a century now,why would I expect anything else?

I think they should unite the conmebol and concacaf anyways. the concacaf is just about mexico and the US, all the rest is bellow shit. For the world cup qualifiers I think the group is too long for the conmebol, every country plays one another twice. They should just do a huge panamerican confedereation with more and smaller groups. This would improve the level of mexico and the US. I do think that both are quite underrated for being part of such a weak confederation with no opponents. It does feel right to have mexican teams in the libertadores, for example. why not mls as well?
Anyway, another ridiculous thing is that the oceaninan cofederation still exists while the only worthy team, australia, is now attached to the asian federation. Why don't they just merge both? a confederation for NZ and a few ridiculously small islands, really?? europe- africa- asia+pacific- americas would do it.
