[TPA1] Tournament Players Association

Tournament Player's Association (TPA)
Introducing the Tournament Player's Association (TPA). Loosely following the lead of the PGA and WTA sport tours the TPA is CCs first league for tournament players. Each week will feature a new TPA sanctioned tournament across a variety of game styles. We'll have team, assassin, 1v1, terminator, no spoil, escalating, fog, sunny and even mixed tournaments over the course of the year. Like the PGA and WTA there will also be 4 Majors (1 team, 1 1v1, 1 singles (4-8 player) and 1 assassin).

Yep, great idea bart. =D>

I made this a "sticky", since players will want to check the score board regularly.

I have decided that the Top 3 overall finishers will all receive Contest Achievement Medals at the end of the season.

I love it! =D>

Question: So the first Tourney will go up Monday May 3, and continue through until May of next year? Shouldn't it only be, say 50 weeks so the last couple tourneys can finish up and a winner declared and so there is a break before the next season starts up (i assume it will continue for a second season and beyond because I think this will be popular amongst tourney regulars)?

Also, will there be an indicator in the title like "TPA Event" so that everyone knows or will we have to come here to look at which tourney is the event?

Keep up the great work guys!

Each TPA event with have, at the end of it's proper title, (TPA). There will also be a blurb, logo, and link in the tournament posting itself.

now you get to go through all of the explaining again in the public bart!!

for this particular problem, bart understands that all tourneys (that are more than 30 players) are gonna take close to a month at the quickest. He is trying to put the longer tourneys close to the beginning of the season so that the 2010 season ends as soon as possible, but there will obviously be some overlap.
However, maybe capping it at 50 weeks is a good idea bart, then you have some time before the first monday in May next year, or whenever the second season starts

to answer the second question again (Kinnison got there first), yes, at the end of the title it will say (TPA)

you 2, fuzzy pengui knows about this, right? He's the one that is gonna be naming the tourneys and such from now on, and most of the time he would leave the stuff in parentheses off of the name, but having TPA at the end is kind of important

You'll get a spot on the scoreboard when it's created, will that do? ;)
(my turn to get trumped by jrh... heh)

Heck, we have a TPA graphic for the tournaments, I'm sure someone will whip up a membership card REAL quickly.

This looks interesting, and looks like a good reason to stay on CC to play a limited number of games.

About the rankings... how exactly will a champ be determined? By combining all of those scores? B/c I feel like the way it's currently set up, you can become a champion by just joining every tournament and being lackluster... whereas players who only join 5-10 tournaments a year and win in 75% of them should really be up top (I'm thinking of how Tiger only plays in so many tourneys but maintains a high rank).

ya, we just need someone good at that stuff to put a bit of effort into it. You can ask Sir. Ricco, he's the one that made the logo. I don't know what you would do with it though, unless you wanted it to be your avatar or sig.

you won't win just by joining every tournament. If you win 5 tournaments you'll be up there, remember there are multipliers, so you get more for each win than you'd think. Also, as most of these are bracket-style, the winner will play a lot more games than the person in last, so they will get more points for that

Thanks for the credit for the idea guys

But big thanks to bart for taking the idea forward and lead role.

Any road up - this will mean lots of different TOs with different styles have tournaments contributing to a bigger competition - it will be lots of fun and something for everyone through the season.

Some generic graphics would indeed be cool - perhaps a carto might help - this is something that can be worked on as we go along I guess, although would be nice if we can get it sorted before the big kick-off.
