007: "Bond, James Bond" #2: From Russia w/ Love - Rsrvs, Pls

'Bond, James Bond' travels the world in the pursuit of his job, which allows play on a variety of maps. Each of my 007: "Bond, James Bond" tournaments is played on maps from Bond's adventures in the movie. British Isles will be the common map, as Bond's home base appears in each movie to some degree. As such, the final game in each tournament will be an Assassin game in the British Isles.

The second in the series, From Russia With Love sets the tone for Bond's wide-ranging travels throughout the rest of the films. Bond travels from England to Turkey, and rides the Orient Express. He then drives a boat to Venice, where the film ends. There are several spy agencies and groups involved, including Russian intelligence SMERSH; Crime syndicate SPECTRE; and British intelligence MI6. As such, players in the tournament will have a choice of agency -- are you part of SMERSH, SPECTRE, or MI6? This choice will affect the seeding: I will distribute the agencies evenly in each game.

We'll play several maps, The Middle East, because Turkey is the site of much of the film, also Rail Europe and Italy, before ending with the series signature final map: British Isles Assassin.

We'll play the first 3 maps 3 times each, simultaneously, all Standard, 007 players, Sequential. The Middle East will be Flat Rate, Unlimited, Sunny. Rail Europe will be Escalating, Chained, Sunny. Italy will be No Spoils, Adjacent, Foggy. Points will be awarded as follows: Winner: 7 points; 2nd: 3 points; 3rd: 2 points; 4th and 5th: 1 point. 6th and 7th: No points.

(Rules Edit)
Tournament Bonus points will be awarded as follows: In Middle East, hold Turkey (get the continent bonus) at least once in the game for a 1-point bonus. In Rail Europe, hold the Orient Express (get the continent bonus) at least once in the game for a 1-point bonus. In Italy, hold Venezia + any two other cities for the 3 Citta 'continent' bonus to receive a 1-point bonus. Only 1 tournament bonus point can be won by any single player in a game, however multiple players may earn the same bonus (e.g. if 3 different players hold Turkey at some point in the game, each would receive the bonus). You must state that you deserve the BONUS in the game chat -- I'm not going to analyze every game log, but I'll check the chat for the word BONUS in ALL CAPITAL LETTERS.

(Rules Clarification)
If you don't want to, you don't have to put the word BONUS in the chat until the end of the game. Since the Italy game is Foggy, I can't check the log to confirm whether you deserve the bonus until the end anyway. As long as it's in there at the end, it's all good -- even if multiple people earn the bonus.

Players must play the game to get points -- you can't just sit on your hands and never attack, hoping to place for points in every game. If any game gets stalemated, I'll issue a warning. If the game still doesn't advance, then I'll 'pull the plug': declare the game good for tournament purposes, and divide up the remaining points amongst the surviving players evenly (three players would divide 12 points, as 4th & 5th already earned 1 point each).

(Rules Clarification)
Stalemates occur at the end of 35 rounds, and will be awarded as described above. In the case of the foggy map (Italy), bonuses that cannot be verified before the next round (or the end of the tournament) will not be counted. The math works out to:
7 players = 2 points each
6 players = 2 points each
5 players = 2 points each
4 players = 3 points each
3 players = 4 points each
2 players = 5 points each

When all 3 of the first set of games is over, I'll re-seed opponents based upon score and agency. I'll re-seed again before the third set, too. Since you will play 3 games at once in this tournament, but only 3, freemiums are welcome provided they keep the slots open to participate. I will be generous on game joining time, but not ridiculously generous, and I'll provide plenty of notice before starting each round -- all in this thread, so freemiums pay attention.

I'm hoping for a large group, so I'm capping this one at 182 players. That's 7 x 26. I'm also going to cap any one agency at 84 players (7 x 12) - so the seeding will work with all three agencies.
(Edit)Ok, so it's going to be a smaller group than I thought -- I'm capping it at 63 players, 21 in each agency. Spectre and Smersh are full, and there are 2 openings in MI6. As soon as those fill, we're on. Thanks everyone for your patience.

To summarize:
Play The Middle East; Rail Europe; and Italy all at once, 3 times in a row, for points. Top 7 players play the final map: British Isles, Assassin, Flat, Foggy.
Seeding based upon agency and points, you may pick an agency: MI6; SMERSH; SPECTRE. If you don't say, I'll pick for you.

In to bonus_mop. Remember to specify your affiliation, or I'll pick one for you: MI6; SMERSH; or SPECTRE. Dr.killitz, Italian isn't one of the choices, so I put you in MI6. If you want to change (or anybody does) just let me know.
