The text for the bonuses for the main whole continents looks like it is a little bit transparent for two of the three. The blue and red text look lighter than the green text.

Also, the "9" after the blue text bonus looks lower than the rest of the text, but this is probably just the way the font is.

And the second line of the quotation might look better if you centered it by moving it a little bit to the right.

Great map.

The green text is slightly darker due to the compliants that it was hard to read.

Thats the way the font presents itself when typed.

Easy fix

Just pointing out a little historical inaccuracy: in the Era of the Three Kingdoms, the Wei Kingdom was more powerful than either of the other two.
Still......can't wait to play it!

Gimil, i don't know if you done an update, i suspect not since i last commented....but my feedback on V15 from the front page is that the dark blue area is is still unpleaseant for my eyes. Dark blue number on Dark blue texts with small glow on black text...sorry! But if you're happy with it then I won't bother anymore.

What are the names of the individual regions? I get that the blue area is Wei, but what is the central bit called, for example?

Here's my thoughts on gameplay:

Blue area (Wei) (+9)
Liang - 3 terrs, borders: 1 def /1 attack. +1 bonus
Bei Ping - 2 terrs, 2 def / 3 att. +1 bonus.
Big Blue - 9 terrs, 6 def /7 att. +5 bonus.

Red area (Wu) (+12)
South Red - 5 terrs, 2 def / 4 att. +2 bonus
West Red - 5 terrs, 5 def / 5 att. +5 bonus
East Red - 6 terrs, 3 def / 4 att. +3 bonus

Green area (Shu) (+8)
North Green - 7 terrs, 4 def / 3 att. +4 bonus
South Green - 4 terrs, 2 def / 4 att. +2 bonus

Blue area (Wei)
Unless you have a good drop here, none of these areas are particulalry attractive to go for.
The only way I can see Big Blue being held, is by someone having a good drop there and on Liang.

If you don't have the two +1 areas, I would suggest that you're not going to capture Big Blue until late in the game and you're on your way to a win in any case - it's a bit like Asia on classic, with two mini Austrailia's.

Personally, I would be inclined to up Bei Ping to +2 to make it a bit more attractive, and match other regions. I'd consider increasing Big Blue to +6 or +7.

Red area (Wu)
The red area attracts the highest overall bonus, and the +2/+3 regions look attractive prospects. to start at. In the East, you can hold the whole area with 2 terrs, as nobody is likely to be worried about losing Xu Chang early on; but you've got a lot of armies to battle through unless you have a favourable drop.

The Red Left area in the centre of the map is going to be difficult to hold. It sort of equates to Europe on Classic - but the bonus on its own is not enough to fort and attack.

It might be worth shortening the mountain range by Wuling, so that Han Zhong (green) and Jei Ting(blue) also border - this way the red area has to worry less about being the stop-gap between blue and green??

South Red has a half-bottleneck, which makes it an attractive option if you get dropped near there, but less so if you don't.

Green area (Wei)
If you're trying for a 'big' bonus, then North green is going to be your best bet, as it has the fewest 'attacking neighbours'.

South green is also attractive with the half-bottleneck, although at the start, the number of attacking neighbours would make this a bit harder to get if you're trying to beat the drop!
I might be inclined to make both areas +3.

General Thoughts
My general impression is that the Big Blue and West Red areas will be left alone until the later stages of the game, and that the best area to get dropped would be Green, as it has the best chance of expansion and getting the whole kingdom.

It reminds me a bit of the Iberia map, although I'm not sure the small bonusses are that easy to get; and expansion opportunities are fairly limited.

to answer the post above about the names, central wei is the "central plains", northern shu is the riverlands and so on, however i dont see why this is relevant

Is there any way to make the map a bit bigger so Liang North and Jiaozhi don't have part of their territory off the edge?

I'd rather gimil not do that. I think maps should be as small as possible -- scrolling up and down gets annoying.

You'd only need like ten pixels at most vertically. Horizontally you'd need more, but that won't affect scrolling.

Gimil - now that the mountains have opened up the green-red-blue border, I'd put Northern Shu back up to 4.

I'd still be inclined to up the Big Blue Northern Plains to +6.

Agreed on the bonuses.

Gimil I still think you need to name those regions somewhere on the map.

I think something is needed - what are you going to call the gegions in the XML? If they're not named on the map, imagine the confusion that will cause and the "xxxx has a bonus for holding xxxx, but I can't see it on the map" comments that will get posted after forge....

Hehe Gimil. This comment actually made me feel bad! Don't play psychological warfare with me mate!

Sorry...I just believe it would help during the gameplay. I know I will get confused when communicating with my team mates. But it's your map and your decision at the end of the day.
