Lack's last comment on this topic, and only contribution to this thread I believe, was in his post of 1 June 2006 (which for some reason I can't create a working link to. Anyone who can help me out - PM me ?) ...

There is something wrong with your game play if you have more than 1000 armies floating around on any of these maps.

Get over your dice phobia people and start rolling.

I'd change this suggestion to say any time you have more than 10,000 troops on a map (in 8-player, that'd be still over 1000 per person) the game ends, and lack gets 100 points from everybody in the game for slowing down his server.

The hacking is detailed here...

And I just tried to do it... and it didn't work...

So I'm pretty sure this limitation could be removed now as there are other fixes that probably circumnavigate the attempted hack.

Did not really see the point when this was first suggested (basically, you had to TRY to get that many ...), BUT now, with the new City Mogul ... I think this could become common.

There is no longer a potential for hacking, I just left the limit to discourage build games.

Anyways, I bumped it up to 9999 ;)
