I'm of the opinion that even should RJ end his exile from the foundry, he should shutter this project and move on. Marvaddin has turned this whole process into a farce, and oaktown's 100% right about the abuse of power going on here. If marv's totally okay with having his country represented by the bar-none ugliest map on this site, if he's so up his own ass about his artistic genius that he can't see that RJ is producing a map that makes the original look like cave paintings, then let the revamp as a whole die.

I realise that this may seem like an unfeeling moment to say this, with respect to RJ, but...

I am willing to revamp the map using the one I made for the contest. It would be better than the current one we have (although not this one, I'll be the first to admit). It was also the one that Marvaddin said he liked best and was "Simple, but beautiful. Loved it." Ergo, he likely would be willing to work with me on it. :)

It looked like this.

Should I have a go at it? As I really really do not like marvaddin's one... no offence to him. ;)

At least could you ask the question without putting the image!

honestly, your image was one of my least favourites. if we're going to go with a different one, might as well use one of the other two finalists

Perhaps if Marv were to relinquish his veto RJ might be more predisposed towards rejoining the process.

no offense on all the others but it looks like this site has lost its greatest map maker, this could easily have been avoided. The blame for this is not marvaddin's - it lays solely with team cc for the way that this and other events have been handled - hopefully rj's actions will be a wake up call although right now i am fairly pessimistic :(
Don't now why people on here don't like being cooks, remember under siege: A former SEAL, now cook, is the only person who can stop a gang of terrorists when they sieze control of a US Navy battleship.

hmmm i have been resisting replying to this, as bickering is not helpful in resolving this! But what is to lose really... some of the most beautiful and progressive maps ever to grace these forums have been taken away from us... and likely will not be back!

So, although the set-up of the competition (Agreement on veto etc and also the taking of the images to a broader vote) may have been a fairly major mistake.

Yep, Rj took them down because he has stopped the revamping for now.

I thought it might seem that way, hence why I said:
I realise that this may seem like an unfeeling moment to say this, with respect to RJ, but...
and gave the reason why I thought it should be said anyway:
As I really really do not like marvaddin's one... no offence to him.

I’m not circling, I just see no reason why someone cannot take over for RJ. I presume he means what he says about leaving over with maps. If I left the foundry, I would mean it, and not come back. Therefore, why not get someone else to take over as soon as possible? It’s efficient.

I absolutely agree with you: I would rather see Oaktown pick it up than me. I did, however assume from his post that he was unwilling to work with the marvaddin veto and was therefore unlikely to try. I am willing to work within the veto, and I humbly put forth the opinion that this map, however inadequate compared to the other finalists, is better than the original.

I have an update almost ready to post. I've reworked the borders so they are flat. Marv wanted me to use this skeletal map, which I did. I hope to post the update soon, just been really busy with work.

We've been communicating via PM. That's where he asked me to change the borders.

Does anyone know if the accent marks on Brazil territories need to be there if the letters are all capitalized?

Like that little "c" with the tail in Foz do Iguaçu
Would the little tail still be on the Capital "C"?

Is there such a glyph available?

I would suggest that it is not needed - as the accent should still apply capitalised of not?

Not sure how accents work in Portuguese, but you'd keep the accent in French for sure.

Ç
Latin capital letter C with cedilla
U+00C7

Don't know what the convention is, but the character does exist.

what's the story on this?

I think basically everybody except Marvaddin would be OK with a graphics stamp for this save possibly a couple minor issues

Is there border redrawing that "needs" to be done or is that in the past?

Well I redrew the borders, but haven't posted the update yet. I stated working on getting the correct spellings in, but my font was all capitals - so i was struggling with that a bit. I'll get around to it.

Hello! Well, I'm new here in the game, but I saw this topic and wanted to help. I am brasilian, and any doubts just ask to me. :D

Just answering, the cedilha is never capitalized, cause it can't be used as the first letter of the word. But, even when all the letters are capitalized you need to keep the accent marks. So, Foz do Iguaçu and São Luiz continue to be FOZ DO IGUAÇU and SÃO LUIZ. The accent marks are very important in portuguese, in the writing and in the pronounce, so plz, if possible, write then in the map. ;)

I'm going to look both maps again and give a opinion. :D
