On the plus side, lack has uploaded the amended XML, so there should be no more headaches here!

So you wanted me to post this hear, and I forgot earlier, so I will now.

In the upper left hand corner, you have "LLYN", with the Y having an accented upside down triangle on it (been too long out of foreign language classes, I don't remember what that's called). However, in the attack/fortifications panel, it comes up as "LL?N"

I'm wondering if 3 neutrals on each settlement is too high? I'm playing some tournament games on Arms Race, which has 2 armies on the neutrals... I'm wondering what others think about my proposal to reduce the settlements to 2 starting neutrals?

Hi MrBenn, nice map! I'm only in the second round of my first game on it and I like it already :)
One thing though. I know it might be a bloody stupid mistake I made and it became clear to me very quickly, but...
In the first block of the explanations, I misread it being
Capture both Shire CLANS, and the settlement and you will receive one bonus army.
I interpreted that as "When holding the Settlement (named right before and explained after that), if you have both clans aswell you get 1 bonus autodeployed on the Settlement aswell as 1 extra army to deploy elsewhere."
Of course it should be
Capture both Shire Clans and the settlement, and you will receive one bonus army.

Maybe put a comma there :)?

Just started playing this board (4-player, chained, no spoils).. and have some initial impressions..

1. Where are the shire names. ?? Or.. some color coding in the bonus listing..??

2. The southern 2-territory shire seems too easy to take.. especially with a random start
where someone gets a concentration there.. Maybe the other 2-bonuses should be 3..?

Other than that, it rocks..! :-) Very wild games..:-)

On reducing the neutrals.. it would definetely change the game.. and not, I think, for the better..

My reasoning is that what would happen is it would turn into a WWI type game,
with slow building up of massive armies. As it is, it's a very fluid game.. which I think
is a good thing..:-)

Nice double post man ;)
I'll refrain from commenting on the 2/3 neutrals discussion, I don't feel like I have enough gameplay experience to make such judgements.
But...
Shertenn wrote:1. Where are the shire names. ?? Or.. some color coding in the bonus listing..??

Obviously, the shire names are the Settlements' names, followed by -shire.
And there IS colour coding in the bonus listing :) Just watch the 'paint spots'. But maybe they could be saturated a bit more (or something), to bring them up front a bit.

Btw, MrBenn, I know I should get into the Foundry more often, instead of making these comments when the map is nearly finished...
But I'm just good at nitpicking 8-)

I realize this probably isn't your responsibility, but...

Though BOB works fine for me on dozens of other maps, with Wales it hangs up while trying to calculate statistics. I operate on Vista Home Premium. None of my competitors on the map have any problem. I have no similar problems with any other apps or websites or processes. I like the map and I find BOB absolutely essential, so I appreciate your consideration of this.

Same here, and I run a mac. Interestingly Enoch the only times this has happened kid-turn are when I went 4v2 using clickies. Same situation twice ... :-k

Played the map a few times now. It's a pleasure to play on. It looks great and I love the twist in the gameplay where you have to secure both clans and the settlement to get an extra army.

Changing settlements from n3 to n2 is really good, Please keep it at n2. Why? With this being a "small" map you only get a three armies at the start of your early turns. With n2 there is now and insentive to try and capture settlements where as before the risk was too high.

Many thanks for , E.G.

for some reason BOB is choking on this game while trying to build the statistics table. By choking I mean it's caught in a loop somewhere so it never finishes building the stats table.

BOB seems to be hanging for me on a number of games/maps at the moment.... I'm not convinced it's Wales-specific :?
