<NS EDIT>
Winners: Chariot of Fire, Daryth
</NS EDIT>

Hi everyone,
welcome to my doubles tournament.
This tournament is paired with the 1600+ doubles: standard maps tournament. feel free to register for both if you like.

Setup
The tournament starts out with 4 groups of each 5 teams. Within each group all teams play each other once on a random map from the list. The first and second placed teams move on to the Quarterfinals. In the quarterfinals, semi-finals and finals, teams play a best of three series to determine the winner, again each game is played on a random map.

Maps
Each Map has certain settings associated with it.
1. Feudal War, No Cards, Chained, No Fog
2. Age of Merchants, No Cards, Chained, No Fog
3. Age of Realms 2, Escalating, Chained, Fog
4. Waterloo, Escalating, Chained, Fog
5. Battle for Iraq, No Cards, Chained, No Fog
6. City Mogul, No Cards, Unlimited, Fog
7. Operation Drug War, No Cards, Chained, Fog
8. Prohibition Chicago, Escalating, Chained, No Fog

Rules
At the time the tournament begins, i expect all players to be above 1600 points. During the course of the tournament you may drop below.
When you sign up, please have your teammate confirm he is your teammate.
In the groupphase, you will receive all 4 games at once, after that each time 3. If you are a fremium and willing to keep those slots open, feel free to join.
The teams will be seeded according to their total score and spread evenly through the groups.
The Foe List is ignored in this tournament, just like in most others.
Random.org chooses the maps.

if you have any questions, feel free to ask!

Confirming as AndrewB's partner.

Just out of idle curiosity, how are you planning on breaking ties in pool play?

good question, i had been wondering about that myself.
in the event of a tie all teams tied play a doubles game on one of the random maps. lets hope we dont have a five-way tie, then i have to think of something else :lol:

i trust that you will make it, but havent included you in the list yet. i will try to check back, but it would be even easier if you posted again once you have reached 1600.

both other teams are of course in.

Well, that works as a last resort, but you might want to have head-to-head record as a tiebreaker should, say, 2 teams end up tied 2-2, with one of them advancing 'cause they beat the other team. I imagine that's how it would go anyway, but never hurts to spell out tiebreakers ahead of time.

Also, when assigning random maps for the best-of-three portion of the tourney, will maps be struck off once they're assigned to ensure that there aren't any duplicates in said best-of-three matches?

i agree on that, but that will only work with 2-way ties. if we have a threeway tie, its likely that each team won one and lost one against the others.

and yes, i don't want duplicate maps within a best of three series. with some bad luck though you will be playing the same three maps each best of three match :P
