How to Join a Clan

Postby MarVal on Tue Jun 16, 2009 1:14 pm

How to Join a Clan

Clans , for those unfamiliar, are member organized and run groups of people. They may share similar styles of play, geographic location, other varying interests, or perhaps may just be a group of friends looking to get together in some organized fashion. Clans are what you make them, that is the beauty.

Here is a step-by-step guide for finding the Clan of your dreams:
____________________________________________________

  • Take a moment to browse through the titles in the Create/Join a Clan sub-forum. The TAGS [Forming] or [Recruiting] in the title of the Clan will lead you to Clans that are looking for new members.

    • [Forming] = A new Clan trying to take shape and looking for the needed 9 founding members.
    • [Recruiting] = Existing Clans that are actively seeking new recruits.
____________________________________________________

  • Choose the Clan you are interested in and enter the thread. Carefully read the first post to find all the details about that Clan. Pay special attention to things such as:

    • The purpose of the Clan
    • Discussions and/or Challenges
    • What are the Clan Rules
    • Expectations
    • Current rosters
____________________________________________________

  • If the Clan looks like one you would enjoy being a part of, you can sign up to become a new Clan member:

    • [Forming] threads = All this takes is a reply in the thread. Most of the time a simple "I would like to be in your Clan." will be fine, but be sure to see if you need to include any other information such as interest or minimum requirements.

    • [Recruiting] threads = All this takes is a reply in the thread. Most of the time a simple "I would like to be in your Clan." will be fine, but be sure to see if you need to include any other information such as interest or minimum requirements.

Now that you have made your post in the [Forming] or [Recruiting] thread, all that is left for you to do is patiently wait for the response from the (forming) Clan Leader if you fit in the Clan or not. Sometimes this only takes a couple of days. Just check back on the thread every so often to see if there are any updates you need to know about.

  • You can also search on the Usergroups page on your User Control Panel for finding the Clan of your dreams:

    • If the Clan is a freely open group, you can automatically join the Clan by clicking on the "o" behind the Clan name.

    • If the clan is an open group, you can can apply to join the Clan by clicking on the "o" behind the Clan name.

    • If the clan is a closed group, you can only join upon invitation of the Clan Leader.

If you have any questions, concerns, or ideas, as you go through it, feel free to contact any one of the Clan Directors. That’s what they are here for…to help you have fun on the Clan section.

How to form a Clan

Postby MarVal on Tue Jun 16, 2009 1:15 pm

How to Form a Clan

If you have the skills, attitude and personality you can form your own Clan and become a Clan Leader of your own Clan on Conquer Club.

But before you create a new forming Clan read the step-by-step guidelines that provide the perfect source how to form, host, and run your own clan i.e.for victories in the Clan Challenges or be the host of a discussion . Until you are familiar with the process, my advice would be to read it all before you form your own Clan. That way, no one will be surprised and having a lot of questions as you go through the process.

Here is a step-by-step guide for finding the Clan of your dreams:

UNDER CONSTRUCTION

There are several tactics to starting a clan. The most basic way is to post in Join/Start a Clan telling everyone that you are creating a clan and are looking for players. It is recommended that you have some players/friends already ready to join your clan before you post in the public forum. By doing this, it shows that you already have a good start and a solid core of players. Clearly detailing what your clan is about and what your clan offers is also important, especially if it is unique that no other current clan offers. Sell other players on why they should join your clan.

Recruiting New Clan Members

Postby jpcloet on Fri Jun 19, 2009 8:59 pm

How to Recruit New Members

Many Current Clans operate and manage their recruitment in several different ways.

  1. Having a Public Recruitment Thread
  2. Recruiting In-Game Opponents
  3. Having Player Trials/Tests
  4. Having a Training Group
____________________________________________________

  1. Having a public recruitment thread
Several Clans have threads that outline that they are looking for new members. These threads often contain information such as, requirements needed to join (points, experience), the benefits of joining their clan (signatures, in-clan tournaments), current members, and clan war results history.
  2. Recruiting In-Game Opponents
This method can be very successful. Who better to recommend players to your clan than your own clan members. There are many great players on the site that do no actively seek to be part of a clan. Introducing clans to them and selling your clan can be a very effective recruitment tool.
  3. Having Player Trials
Some clans will test their applicants with Trial games, often team games with current clan members to get a sense of their character and playing style/skill.
  4. Having a Training Group
Similar to trials, some clans have training usergroups to run several trials and tests of character and skill.

How to Create/Find a Clan Challenge

Postby jpcloet on Sat Jun 20, 2009 7:45 am

How to Create/Find a Clan Challenge
____________________________________________________

Your First Clan Challenge

  • The best way to start is to get yourself informed as to what clans do and how they operate clan challenges. Look at several current clan challenges to see how they are setup. You will likely see some common setups and terms such as
    • Setup - The Setup indicates which game types and how many of each. You will mainly see the following:
      • Doubles - Teams of 2
      • Triples - Teams of 3
      • Quads - Teams of 4
      • Singles5 - A best of 5 1v1 games generally on the same map and settings and counting as 1 game in total (Some challenges count all 5, while others use different maps)
      • SinglesX - There have been various setups like Singles7 and Singles3, although Singles5 is the most common
    • 20 Game Challenge - This is the minimum size to be included in the Clan Ladder Rankings
    • 40 Game Challenge - This is the average challenge size (38 games on average) and is generally considered the minimum number of games to truly test skill vs skill
    • Home & Away - A 40 game challenge will imply that each side gets to make one-half of the games and decide on settings
    • Limitations - Limitations are the settings the 2 clans have agreed upon. The most common limitations are, No Speed, No Freestyle, No Beta Maps
    • CLA Map Repeat Rule - As part of the first CLA League, there was a limitation that within a weekly set of 10 games, the home team had to choose 10 unique maps. This was intended to show diversity, and also to limit a clan from choosing the same map over and over. Several clan challenges have seen clans use this rule to apply to all of a clans home games whether that be 10, 20 or some other number.
    • Delivery/Schedule - Clan Challenges will often list how many and when games are to be made
    • Contacts - Both sides should list who the primary and secondary clan contacts are for that challenge to avoid any communication issues
  • The next step should be to look at the Clan Ladder Rankings[Being revamped] and the Clan Activity Roster - Current Status to give you an idea of who is available for a challenge and what opponents you may match up well with. Remember that it will take some time to learn to win as a clan. Clans, including those with solid players, often have found themselves on the losing end of a difficult first challenge experience. Pick your opponents wisely.
    • Now that you have an opponent or two in mind, the best way to start the challenge conversation is to pm the leaders of the clan you would like to challenge. Tell them what you are thinking in terms of Setup, limitations etc. Once you have come to an agreement, decide who will post the challenge thread as that person will be responsible for updating, listing games etc. The Clan Directors have the power to update threads, but can only do so if approved by the Original Poster of the challenge thread.

    Official Clan Policies

Postby jpcloet on Sat Jun 20, 2009 7:47 am

    Official Clan Policies
    ____________________________________________________

      Official Policies:

      • Forming Clan Requirements
        • Clans (similar to usergroups) must have a minimum of 10 members
        • Clans can have at most, 4 designated leaders. Being a clan leader gives you access to add/delete non-leader members to your clan.
        • Clan leaders can only add members that have agreed to join. Adding players without their permission, will result in a loss of those privileges
        • Clan leaders can only be added/removed by admin and an e-ticket must be used for this request.
        • Clan leaders should avoid setting their clan members' default group. While this will add the default clan avatar to that player, that can also be done by sending the avatar picture via email or posting it on the web so that the player can upload it.
      • Clan Wars
        • Clans must organize Clan Wars without game creation rights. See the Managing a Clan War post for help
      • Clan Tournaments
        • Clans must organize Clan Tournaments without game creation rights. See the Managing a Clan War post for similar help
      • Clan Leagues
        • Clans must organize Clan Leagues without game creation rights. See the Managing a Clan War post for similar help. There has been only one Organized Clan League so far, organized and participated by the Clan Leaders Association (CLA) Clans
      • Abandoned Clans Policy
        • A Clan is considered Abandoned if there are no posts in the private forum for 30 days. Admin will give the clan a warning prior to deletion
        • It is also considered Abandoned if there are less than 10 members. Admin will give the Clan a period of time to recruit to get back to the minimum level of 10 members.
        • If the leader abandons the clan, a formal vote within the clan for a new leader is the best option to revive the clan
        • If the clan is a lost cause and you have tried the other options, the submitting an e-ticket to have the clan deleted is the last option
      • Clan Signature Policy
        • Clan Signatures must conform to the Forum Guideline of 150 pixels High by 600 pixels Wide. The signature includes text in its limits, and is the primary reason signatures are too large.
      • Clan Transfer to Social Group
        • Clans are competitive groups and active in Clan Challenges. If your clan has not participated in a Clan War, League or Tournament over the last 6 months, then your recruitment thread will be moved to the Create/Join a Social Group. If you are having a hard time finding an opponent, please pm the Clan Directors, and we will do our best to help you find one.
