Sorry I hate to be the one to rain on your parade. Nice map for sure, but I have now been asked by 3 dutch people why there is the German Eagle on their country. During WW II Germans Occupied Holland aka Netherlands and that eagle was used as a means to show dominance. Many people from Holland to this day still do not like that eagle emblem. With that said it would be like having a map of Israel with the Palestine Flag on top of it. Just not a good idea. Is there nothing that can be done to correct this? I thoughts maps were not supposed to have anything that could be seen as bigotry on it?

I will wait to see what the rest of you all say.

that eagle goes back to the 13th century and probably before that, do your historical lessons

Your analogy is flawed. Certainly a map of Israel, dominated by a Palestinian flag, would be a bad idea. The Germany map, however, is a map of Germany, and the Netherlands are part of the unplayable map background, underneath about as neutral a symbol of modern Germany as you're likely to find.

And honestly, if there are Dutch folks who feel offended, let them come and air their grievances. Outrage is much more credible and pathos-inducing when not conveyed by an intermediary.

I swear, every revamp is like this. One could revamp a map with such skill that the resulting image literally induces religious-experience-type orgasms when gazed upon, and people would still complain.

Regarding the eagle: I guess I was hoping we could put the days of the Nazis behind us when this map was developed. Honestly, placing the German coat of arms on a map of Germany seems, to me, a rather harmless thing to do. In any case, if someone could suggest a better symbol to place there, one with less negative connotations but one that still conveys a similar Germany-ish feeling, I'll try to oblige.

Where is unuruu complaining how there are the Hong Konger (yes that's correct), Chinese, and Taiwanese emblems on Mongolia! Ahh!

Seriously, can they not realize that's just the neutral area and a place to put the coat of arms? I find that complaint to be rather ridiculous.

this map is a vast improvement
i understand why dutch people may find it insulting to have the coat of arms of Germany hovering over the Netherlands but i 100% sure that its not there to insult and just add to the map which is Germany
as .44 pointed out people will bitch about the same problem no matter what the map
this same thing happens on BeNeLux and many other maps
its human nature to complain especially when it comes to change
i hope the people offended understand that this might bother them but its not meant to cover and defame the dutch people. Its only part of the title for Germany

i know how much of an impact Nazis had on all of these countries but how can the world heal if everyone constantly pick at the wounds

The new map is not only confusing but also a bad revamp of a solid map.

Sorry, I know you worked hard on this, but change in territory size/shape makes it convoluted.
