To Jota: I don't think Sylas has it right. I think my explanation may be better.

To Everyone else: Jota programmed it in a certain way so that it works with the xml language. The important point is that it doesn't matter HOW it's all calculated so long as you end up with the number of armies the little caution sign legend says you will get. :D

True, but how many people like this we have here? I think the non-crossable borders in Brazil map are pretty obvious. But I put in the legend... and people still ask "what are those thicker borders?" :lol:

But of course, with the info in the legend, no problem... But noobs would go for icons, Im sure. :lol:

Are Sanders i Mispi connected? Army deployment circle for Graceland is on Sanders or border is wrong?

Edit: I looked little harder and saw border goes on west again under circle, so not connected.

If you look at the larger version of the map, it is clearly defined. Sanders does not border Mispi. Graceland is in between.

Is it worth updating the XML on this with <required> and <overrules> so that there isn't any confusion any more about the radiation bonuses?

I'll do it as a quick exercise if people think this is a good idea.

BTW - would Jota (the original author) need to approve it?

OK, I was just about to post here about how confusing the bonus system is, when the XML calls it something totally different than what the map says.

Then I read a bit of the thread, and now I get that the XML is just poorly made. When my first turn started, I was all "WTF is a radiation nexus? WTF is irradiated territory? Why are these not explained in the map?"

Go ahead and call me stupid, but to me this was extremely confusing. I do get most maps instantly though, and it seems I'm not the only one who has been confused by the XML in this map.

IMO it should be fixed. Like benjikat said, use the <required> and <overrides> tags of the XML.

I just ranted about the bonuses in the game chat, and now everyone else in the game probably thinks I'm dumb or something. :oops: I just don't want that happening to anyone else :)

WTF? I've played this map a few times with no problems. But then my opponent starts with a plus 3 for a radiation nexus and then a plus 6 for a radiation nexus on the next turn. He dind't have a bonus and there is no term 'nexus' in the key(s). That is not right. Game 10023427

That would be the irradiated territory bonus explained in the legend. It's called a 'nexus' in the XML.

Yea. I think I saw what happened. Instead of just listing the caution sign bonuses they just do some weird plus minus thing and call it a radiation nexus in the process. That is unnecessary confusion though. If it doesn't say the term radiation nexus in the key then it shouldn't do it in the log.

At long last, my update to the XML has gone live. I have rewritten the radiation bonus so that it is shown in one line, unlike before it was shown in 2 using terms not defined on the map and was a bit confusing. From here on out you should see this:

Gilligan received -1 troops for holding Radiation Effects (when you hold 1 or 2 nexus)
Gilligan received 2 troops for holding Radiation Effects (when you hold 4 nexus)
Gilligan received 5 troops for holding Radiation Effects (when you hold 5 nexus)
Gilligan received 9 troops for holding Radiation Effects (when you hold 9 nexus)

this eliminates the confusing bonuses of before:
Gilligan received -2 troops for holding irradiated territory
Gilligan received 1 troops for holding a radiation nexus
here you have to do the -2 + 1 = -1 total bonus, and it's stupid.

If there are any concerns about this (the bonus works fine, it has been tested) please contact me.
