[Rules] Restrict Nuclear for New Recruits

Postby max is gr8 on Thu Dec 31, 2009 6:24 am

Concise description:
  • Newbies should have to go through the full process described by the UN to earn the right to have nuclear weapons. This is often described as completing 5 games
  • They are unable to join Nuclear until they earn a rank

Specifics:
  • Same limitations as there are for terminator, assassin & team games.

This will improve the following aspects of the site:
  • n00b farming
  • FUN!

Sorry, I can't agree with it. I understand your perspective, but nuclear is a type of spoils, not a style of game, so it does differ from terminator or assassin. Yes, it changes the strategy, but so does escalating strategy change game strategy compared to flat or no spoils.

Except assassin in a similar manner to nuclear spoils changes the way that the game works entirely. It isn't bonus armies like people may be accustomed to. Tbh I don't see why NR can't play terminator as in a way the victory system is the same (I'm glad though as now NRs aren't in every terminator game they can join).

Nuclear spoils are too different for people to potential lure in unwittings (like in Assassins) and reap the rewards.

Nothing would be lost by this, since nuclear is pretty anti-climatic as a game choice anyways. It almost is only fun if a person DOES kill their own stack...lol

I know this is a little off topic, but I could not find an answer. If you end up having to eliminate yourself in a Nuclear game, what happens to the points if it is a Terminator game? It could happen if you had 5 cards and could only cash ones for regions that you held, and they were your last ones. In Assassin or Standard, it would obviously go to the winner of the game, but who would get them in the Terminator situation?

Like if someone deadbeats before being eliminated and the player goes on to win I'm guessing the last remaining player does. Though I'm not certain tbh.
