increase army movement amounts, 999 is not enough [Done]

Postby Banana Stomper on Tue May 30, 2006 4:34 pm

A couple of friends and I are playing a game in which we are attempting to build up as many truops as we can before we finally duke it out for victor. I have just topped 1000 troops, but found that i was unable to advance all 1000 at once. It would keep saying illegal attack move. I had to advance 999 and then fortify the rest. Doing this is fine for now, but when we battle, it will be crippling to not be able to advance all of our troops.

The 999 limit was something I put in to stop Tattaglia from hacking the game. I guess I could raise it to 9999 but it doesn't sound like your game is... normal

Yea, i was thinking that was why that limit was in place. I know its not exactly high priority to accomodate a single game, but it'd be fun to see how many we could put down before the urge to do battle overwhelmed us.

Brazil Map

Postby a2zsteve on Sun Feb 25, 2007 5:45 am

I have a small problem in game 185582,

I have just over 2500 armies in Santarem and can not move them all at once.

I have tried attacking and then advancing them all but this does not work.

I have tried to fort all of them to another territory but this did not work.

The only way around this i have found is to fort a few hundred at a time.

Please can someone look into this for me.

Thanks in Advance
mbohn2: f*ck you steve....now try and defend yourself against pink
mbohn2: and I meant that in a non personally offensive way....more directed towards your mongol hoard.....

you can only move up to 999 armies. the rest starves due to the lack of food.

Bug: Unable to advance large amounts of armies on World 2.0

Postby AndrewO on Fri Mar 16, 2007 5:13 am

In this game: 150082

I attacked amazonas from north east brazil, and then tried to advance the remaining 2661 armies onto amazonas.

When I clicked 'advance' I got and error saying 'Illegal attack move!', and was unable to move the armies anywhere.

I tried this several times, and tried using IE as well as firefox, and even tried reducing the number of armies down to as low as 1800-ish, and still got the same error.

In the end I had to select 0 armies before it allowed me to progress.

The most you can adv or fort at once is 999.
Taking an enemy on the battlefield is like a hawk taking a bird. Though it enters into the midst of a thousand of them, it pays no attention to any bird other than the one it has first marked.

Well maybe if you guys would stop being ****** and attack each other, you wouldn't freeze the game up like that. We've known that's an issue, as the game wasn't designed to handle that many troops. It'll be up to Lack if he thinks it's worth fixing for those few instances where it's happened.

lol, that was actually going to be my big move to kill scorba or die trying.

Which would have probably brought about the beginning of the end of the game.

But if 999 is the max we can move then i guess i'll just have to continue stockpiling ;)

 I just have to say, you guys must be one of two types of players in order to let armies get so huge without any decisive attacks for, uh, EIGHTY-TWO FREAKING ROUNDS!

The first type is multi, which is illegal.

The second type was mentioned by Wicked.

Wow, your dog must have HUGE balls....but how big are yours? 8)

Oh, wait, sorry, I automatically went on the defensive. You were addressing that question to the players of the above-mentioned game # 150082. Yeah, I'm sure a grasshopper has bigger balls than those schmucks.

PS, those aforementioned nutless schmucks are welcome to consider this a challenge. I sure would like to coup a few hundred points off of them. Join one of my games. Please. Or invite me to one of yours.

Thanks for the constructive criticism andy.

I can't talk for anyone else in this game, but the only reason I haven't gone out to kill anyone so far is that I have always been blocked off by somebody else, and to even attempt a kill would be suicide.

But I didn't open this thread to discuss the pros and cons of our tactics, or even the size of our testicles.

Over the last 10-15 turn I have been slowly manoeuvering myself into a position where I could have a chance of taking scorba out, only to find i was thwarted by a seemingly arbitary limit on the number of armies I could advance.

I can understand that these kind of numbers weren't considered when designing this site, but with the advent of larger maps like World 2.0 and North America, and the increasing use (certainly in my experience) of blocking tactics in escalating games, it is bound to happen occasionally, so if it's quite a simple fix then it would make sense to make it.

And then we might finally finish this game! ;)
