Gamefinder suggestion

Postby tolekim on Wed Apr 07, 2010 6:21 am

CanI suggest that the settings I apply when using game finder can be saved because when I click what I am looking for and then select a game I have to do it all over again for another game when I might want to enter a few games at the same time. For example once you I have selected a game from gamefinder and joined it if there was an option to return to the game finder games that it found so I can select another one would be great.

Hope I've explained myself clearly.

Specifics:
  • xxxxxxx

This will improve the following aspects of the site:
  • xxxxxxx (you can obviously delete this for bug reports)
  • xxxxxxx

Bump this ! +1

Completely agree.

Following my 1st promotion it is now much harder to find the maps and games you want to take part in than it was as a new player.

Now i have to mess about for ages to try and get back to the same games and maps that are available when you start out as a new player.

The game finder needs a really big overhaul in my opinion. Not only does the selections need to save there needs to be a box for dragging in approved maps.

so that basically if there are 10 maps i like i can drag them into a box that the Game Finder will only search for.

Right now as it stands the maps i find are much harder than i want to play and too many players in them.

There is a script for Greasemonkey, called Saved Searches I believe. You can find it in the plugins & addons sub-forum of General Discussion. It does what you are asking for.

Thanks for the replies but as I don't use firefox it's no good to me. Surely it shouldn't be hard to add the saved searches option or the facility to return to the found games screen when a game has been entered?

I only use firefox for this site
chrome is getting more attention in the addons forum, maybe this will come for chrome soon

i'm not positive this is valid, and this is absolutely ZERO disrespect to lackattack, but he is the only one that programs and updates this site. If there is already an addon you can get, this probably isn't exactly at the top of his list even if it does get accepted. There will almost definitely be a full chrome set of addons before he has the time to implement this based on the trend in the addons forum. BOB and clicky's are being made for chrome right now (YES), then I will be off firefox for good as well.

PS if you still use IE, change, period. It is really really easy to get a better browser, either firefox or chrome, and it really does make your internet much faster

Game finder agent

Postby Mr.Jay on Mon Nov 01, 2010 5:28 pm

Concise description:
  • Have a game finder agent, that allows you to have a presaved game wishlist.

Specifics/Details:
  • Then you don't have to fill in all the blanks every time you search for a new game

How this will benefit the site and/or other comments:
  • It would be a lot faster and easier to find a new game.

Absolutely marvellous idea.

Even if the game finder would automatically remember what was entered last time as defaults. This would be a big improvement.

Same thing for start game would be good as well.

We can't be the only ones that would like to see that in the game. And yes an agent to "Start a game" would be very nice. If it's possible then you could have more than one agent

I don't think I understand.
Can you elaborate more on how this would work?
What changes to game finder would have to be made?

When you search for a game, then you fill in all the blanks such as "Game number", "Game status", "Game type" If there was an agent, you fill in the blanks and save the agent, then with one clic on the agent, it will search the games once specified.

I'm a newbie at Greasemonkey, how do you access this script? I'm all for the original post, but a script that would do the same thing is just as good.

While were are at it, another 'perk' of premium should be the ability to post in the forums. Too many folks get their rocks off torturing us with their blather, yet don't see value enough in the site to pay $25 a year?

I'd rather see many more things implemented before this. Especially if it take space up to store everyone's default. I guess I just don't think it's hard to use Game Finder.

I like this suggestion. It essentially exists in the game creator... And surely wouldn't it be stored as a cookie (or some other technical jargon I don't really understand) on the users end, as opposed to serverside?

I like this suggestion, but until it is implemented by the site, the Conquer Club Saved Searches Greasemonkey Script is an excellent substitute. You can save many named searches, and the one named DEFAULT is automatically loaded. You can also load a set of parameters without running the search, and then modify the values and save them under another name, which is a great way to tweak the combinations and build a library of your favourite searches. I have saved a BLANK search, which when loaded accomplishes what you want from the Reset button.

You will note that this topic is in the Archived Implemented Suggestions forum. I suspect this is due to the fact that there is a Greasemonkey script to do just what the OP is asking for, namely Conquer Club Saved Searches. Check out its user guide: viewtopic.php?f=526&t=139337&p=3041091#p3041091

I agree. In the meantime, I'd suggest heading over to Tools and Enhancements and getting MapRank.

Personalizable ''Join A Game''

Postby Dataloss on Wed Jul 11, 2012 5:34 am

Concise description:
  • People should be able to adjust the ''Join A Game'' experience.

Specifics/Details:
  • It should work like a persetted ''Game Finder''.
  • The standard settings should be as close to the original RISK game.
  • You should be able to adjust the settings through a sub-menu in ''Join A Game''

How this will benefit the site and/or other comments:
  • People that are new to the site most likely instantly hit the ''Join A Game'' button, when this is implented they will find what they were probably looking for. (A original RISK game)
  • The ''Join A Game'' button will finaly also be usable for members that have been around a bit longer.

You are aware of the "Game Finder" link, right? Seems to be what you're describing and it's conveniently located in the same area as the "Join A Game" link. :/

Yes I"m aware. I'd just like it to be adjustable so if you preset your favorite game options/maps, you can rapidly ''Join A Game'' which you like. And people that are new to the site only get to see the classic games (that's probably why they came to this site).
