CRICKET WORLD CUP!

Postby spinwizard on Sun Mar 04, 2007 11:50 am

who will win? My bet is on Sri Lanka

Sri Lanka- They ahave a strong batting line up with several explosive batsmen. eg. sangakkara (sp). Threr bowilig has alot of variation with-
malinga(very quick but skidy because of his roundhouse action, will cause problems)
murali-(The best spin bowler in the world, can turn it both ways, turns it alot)
vass-(will cause problems with his accurate left arm action)

any1 else have an opinion?

If SA dont choke (as usual) I think they are the strongest team on present form. If I was putting money on it Sri Lanka at 9:1 and NZ at 10:1 are pretty attractive

i dont think new zealand have the bowling 2 go all the way (only bond/vettori) and SA always have a good team (polleck, boucher, smith ect...) but useualy mess it up, sri lanka at 9:1 is a good shot.

I agree about New Zealand's bowling being weak but their middle order bats cover a multitude of bowling sins. And on some nice flat bouncy tracks I just think that the bats could make the difference

i suppose, the ground r small other there aswell, they have a distructive lower middle order as u say but all of there bowlers r simeler, they all bowl medium fast and i think it could b costly on such bat friendly piches

Windies have to be worth a punt at 8s with the home advantage and this being Brian Lara's last world cup an all... My money is with either WI or SA at the moment...

west indies tend 2 b abit inconsistent but they r at home...alot of there batting depends on Gayle or Lara fireing tho.

I think the best thing about this World Cup is it is the most wide open for many years. Not one team really stands out and any one of 6 teams could win it. Couple that with the Trini Posse and this should be a great World Cup
