Introduction

Launched in 2008, Egypt: Lower is one of the smallest maps in Conquer Club as it has just 20 regions.

The map is based on the historical regions surrounding the Nile delta and is the first of four maps in the Egypt series (Egypt: Lower, Egypt: Upper, Egypt: Valley of the Kings and Egypt: Nubia). The particular features of this map are the Dhows (i.e. boats) illustrating the crossing points where adjacent regions may attack each other and auto-deployment (+1 troop bonus) on held capitals. The map, like the rest of the maps in the Egypt series, features well-made Egyptian design aspects.

Due to its size, the map is best suitable for two player, small multiplayer (up to 6 players) and small team games. The map is not recommended for more than 7 players or quad games as with these settings each of the players will only get 2 regions when starting.

Doesn't mean I won't suggest stuff for your consideration :lol:

Might want to clarify
Egypt Lower is one of the smallest maps in Conquer Club. It has 20 regions (2 less than Doodle Earth, the Smallest one).

Did you mean, "...Egypt Lower is the smallest map on Conquer Club to date. With 20 regions, it has 2 less than Doodle Earth, which had held the title of CC's smallest map for a long time." or something like that?

Try to stay away from Semabehdet (Upper Middle yellow region) and Ka-henseb (yellow region in the middle of the map) as they are dead ends.

Recommend you say, instead, they can only assault in one direction. Moot point, tho, others might like the term dead ends :)

Maybe note that the dows (ships) above Ament and Am-Pehu are not map decorations, but, like all the dows on the map, they show assault paths between regions across the Nile.
Yes, the map legend indicates that, but I played someone once who asked, "How did that attack that?" so apparently some CAN mistake the top 2 boats as decorations rather than legend-dows.

Also, under name challenge or somewhere, maybe warn to be especially careful about Ament and A-ment.

Did you mean look for weak regions, or is this comment for a team or multiplayer section?

I like the clarifications you made.

I really like the list you made of how many regions a player will get depending on the number of players.

As someone pointed out to me on the classic guide, I didn't discuss freestyle... and you don't seem to do that, either. Do you recommend freestyle for the 1v1 or other play or think it makes not much difference. etc.

1. Maybe escalating & flat rate / no spoils could be combined into a "Spoils" section due to the two sections limited lenght?

I'd write "The ships above..." and then capitalize "Dovs" (as Capitals are capitalized - no pun intended).

Also - "can only assault in one direction" is unclear. As far as I remember it's two-way attaks there (not one way attacks as the wording suggests). Think noting the dead ends are sufficient.

3. For team games (or 1v1 for that matter) it's in my experience quite a succesful strategy to go for a bonus. Of course, the drop must be ok allowing for a 1 or 2 region conquest + good fort opportunitites to secure in order for this to be a preferred strategy. The reason for this is the small bonus zones (not that many regions) and the limited entry points (most zones - two defense points suffices). With a bonus, one can the start picking off team2's capitals (forcing team2 on the defensive trying to break your bonuses) and then seek an elmination. I guess my comment is that I wouldn't mind this kind of discussion in the guide.

These two guides are not listed on the official A-Z list guide for production found here: viewtopic.php?f=539&t=118372

However, since this guide has made considerable progress already I am not going to lock it but allow you to continue but if you plan to start any other guides please take one from this list :)

As for your other guide, once we have made considerable headway with this initial list we shall unlock the thread and allow you to begin work on it again.

Just browsing - see some lingo/language things that perhaps should be reviewed to make the text consistent and clear:

1. "Launched in 2008, Egypt Lower"
Comment: It's "Egypt: Lower" - check entire text.

2. "this map is the first of four in the Egypt series (Lower, Upper, Valley of the Kings and Nubia)"
Comment: I'd write out the whole names of the Egypt maps for clarity.

3. "with rivers boats being the crossing points where neighbors may attack each other, with auto-deployment on held capitals. The map like the rest of the series features good Egyptian design aspects."
Comment 1: Not river boats - "Dovs" right? - Check entire text for clarity.
Comment 2: And neighbors -I'd put in regions there somewhere to have a clear lingo use.
Comment 3: Also, "auto deployment" - also, for capitals, make it consistent using small "c"s in the text (like regions).

4. "autodeploy capitals bonus"
Comment: Isn't it "auto deploy" and then (see above), dunno - either capitals' or capital's I guess.

5. "hide: Two Player
Each player starts with 6 regions."
Comment: In that scroll down menu above, you say that in 2 player games, players start with 8 regions.

6. "Getting IMU zone bonus is a big plus, it will give you a +2 and is the easiest to hold as it only has 3 regions. Another zone bonus to consider is Djedet, since it only has 2 access points. Dont try to gain control over Men_Efer, it has multiple access points and it will be difficult to hold specially on multiplayer games."

Comment: Dunno if IMU is easy to hold as it has 3 entry points. Djedet has most regions, difficult to get - wouldn't recommend someone to go for it (don't think I've ever seen anyone hold this bonus zone). I'd instead discuss the two 4 region bonus zones with 3 entry points. Generally I feel that the text would benefit from an in-depth discussion about the different bonus zones and their pros/cons + taking into account the capital bonus for each zone that provides an extra benfit (in reality - each zone bonus comes with a +1 troop bonus if held due to the capitals).

7. "Escalating
Always look for weak players and try to take them out to gain a few more spoils. Always build up your troops on autodeploy Capitals.

Flat Rate
Flat rate should be avoided on all small maps like this one. It makes the game about luck, and the player who get a 3 card mixed set in 3 rounds will have a big advantage."

Comment: I agree - escalating rarely goes up much in a small map like this as the game is usually over in less than 5-7 rounds. Maybe browse games and see how many rounds esc. games usually takes?

8. "The ships above Ament and Am-Pehu are not map decorations, but, like all the ships on the map, they show assault paths between regions across the Nile."
Comment: I'd use "Dovs" maybe with one explanation, like "Dovs (i.e. ships)" - as Dovs is the map term.

Freestyle can be fun, but the person who take the first turn will have a little troop advantage for holding auto deploy capitals.


In Freestyle, technically "no one" will definitely take a first turn, so this comment applies more to 1v1, sequential, doesn't it?


Other than that, it does look like you addressed all the prior comments, and offered several strategic options - which I think is a plus, since sometimes a game drop doesn't enable "just one strategy" - as well as a "what not to do."

Nicely done, I think.
