Happy 5th Birthday Conquer Club

Postby lackattack on Sat Jan 01, 2011 6:39 pm

Our club has definitely come a long way since we launched on January 2, 2006. The gameplay has evolved so much, the website offers so many ways for members to connect, and I like to think we never lost our spirit along the way. We have many comrades amongst our ranks who possess serious global domination skills, who contribute their time and energy, and who are just plain entertaining. Many other good people have come and gone. We've seen more than our share of rivalries, debates, rebellions, creative collaboration, even members who meet and marry. Our journey is anywhere but over. Conquer Club isn't going away and there are great things in store for us that I now about - and I'm sure even more great things that I have never imagined.

Take a look at this recent snapshot of some statistics - these numbers are hard for me to believe:

Website & Game:
  • 43,750 hours of website operation (99.97% uptime)
  • 25,762 answered support tickets
  • 6,961,434 games (362,441 of which were tournament games and 1,768,217 of which were speed games)
  • 183,644,175 turns taken
  • 65,753,467 rounds played
  • 32,394,292 sets of spoils cashed
  • 65,307,255 game chat messages
  • 6,234,092 player ratings
  • 209,481 medals awarded
Community:
  • 456,227 unique members (not inactivated or busted)
  • 21,434 current active players
  • 5,338 fans on Facebook
  • 3,622 tournaments completed or currently underway
  • 174 maps produced by the community
  • 1,234 months of free premium given out through the referral program
Forum:
  • 93,742 forum topics
  • 2,708,893 forum posts
  • 50,857,464 topic views
  • 25,952 profiles with avatars
  • 8,000 closed cheating and abuse reports

To celebrate our 5th Anniversary, please enjoy the following festivities:

I hope that year 6 brings all of us hours of quality world domination entertainment (it is just a game, remember?) and may 2011 be a year of happiness, health and prosperity for all members.

Happy birthday, CC!

Ahoy Ahoy Conquer Club Members,

Are you all still recovering from New Years festivities? Hopefully you have spent some time relaxing, maybe watching one of the hundreds of TV Marathons they have going (I like the Three Stooges and the Marx Brothers marathons personally, and a few bowl games too!) or one of the plethora of college football bowl games. Well, as many of you may know, Conquer Club's birthday is tomorrow, January 2nd. Conquer Club will be an astounding 5 years old, and like any five-year-old, we like to have a good time and tell you all about it in the process.

Five-year-olds have often been described as "cheerful" and "enthusiastic," and five-year-olds typically enjoy spending a great deal of time discussing who will do/who did what. Five-year-olds are more sensitive to those around them, and a "best friend" is very important, but hard to keep as social skills are not well developed yet.

So we'd like you all to come help us develop our social skills and be our best friend as we celebrate the conclusion of Year #5! And what better way to ring in the new year and Conquer Club's 5th Birthday, than with 24 hours of Speed-Freestle Battle Royale Madness as mentioned by Lackattack above!

For information on how to participate in all our planned festivities and 24 hours of madness, please review the information in Lackattack's above post, and the information here for Battle Royales.

And without further ado---Conquer Club -- A Year in Review.

Conquer Club -- A Year in Review

And as 2010 rides off into the setting sun
Let us look back at the year and the course its run---
Settle up close and I'll begin my tale
Of a year gone by and down some amazing trails!

January brought our fourth birthday
Just as the Hive map with 350 regions entered play.
The infamous CC meme 'FAMO' infiltrated our lexicon
And the CC News became the CC Dispatch from then on.
But as the year commenced everyone wondered what the year would bring---
Would it be a year of recession and depression, or progress and upswing?

February brought Cutesy Club so we could all celebrate in love
Just as the Off Topics forum took up discussion about evidence of a god above.
We experienced some bugs archiving our games, oh no,
But luckily Lackattack upgraded the database server from 12GB to 32GB to improve our flow.
And the Vancouver Winter Olympics kicked off a celebration here in our club
With a massive tournament to devour and a limited edition map make-over as grub.

March brought another game bug, oh my,
Thankfully it was rather minor black-eye---
Especially because we moved forward and launched our Entertainment Team
To dazzle and mystify you with Events and Celebration themes.
And in case you missed two quick monumental feats
Highlanderattack and Army of Nobunaga achieved over 1200 active games---something certainly hard to repeat!

April brought an improved scoreboard and our April Fools joke 'Flip the board,'
Where members (some 246 tried!) thought they could pay to redistribute troops and regions as a reward.
But surely time is better spent recounting the retirement of our beloved Operations Manager Optimus Prime
Just as AndyDufresne was left with a large set of robot rocket boots to fill big-time.
And to round out the month Lackattack enhanced some payment security for us all,
While the Tournament Players Association started in for the long haul.

May brought the landmark game number 7 Million
Just as our short lived web developer newtonboy faded into oblivion.
Whac-a-Mod 3 commenced battle with Mods claiming the victory crown once more
Setting the overall tally at 2 Mod victories 1 lowly Community victory score.
And capping the month the Off Topics forum was renamed 'Bumpage'
To resounding mockery and Community umbrage.

June brought a whole host of Community goings-on
As the 2010 FIFA World Cup celebration included a tournament and a map to play thereupon.
And if you felt an itch in your bones for a weapon of mass destruction
Nuclear spoils and firestorms made their Conquer Club introduction.
We 'updated' our Intensity Cubes to the glee of some and dismay of others---
And in Off Topic news, discussion started about 'what the free market could solve,' oh brothers.

July brought some server reconfigurations and improved troop printing
And the hope we could avoid any performance issues by this instrumenting.
The Tools and Enhancement folks debuted a new 'Speed Turn Notifier' for those in need
While in the General Discussion the 'All around medal achievement' hunt began to proceed.
Game Invites 2.0 then decluttered our inboxes of game invitations
Just as our second attempt at a web developer, sw0rdf!sh, sent in his abdication.

August brought a new community event, some tournament changes, and the departure of a longtime friend,
We celebrated warm-weather with our Summer Bash with feats of knowledge in which we could all contend.
The Tournament folks announced their 'Abandoned/Rescued' policies
In hopes of saving more tournaments from fading into the breeze.
But most will remember this month as the time we said goodbye
To our loveable Team CC Chatter MrMoody who left us with sore throats and tongue ties.

September brought another name change for the Off Topics forum
Where 'Serious Interwebz Business' became the rule of thumb.
Skipping became common place, both in-game and in celebration style
As the Skip Game feature improved our game My Games page trekking by miles.
And incase you were unaware or missed it
Serbia and Tripitaka became the first CC'ers to get married through meeting here---they hitched it!

October brought a milestone achievement
As Mageplunka made 30,000 personal completed games a reality---no illusion, no figment!
Lackattack announced that you could keep a better eye on pesky Teammates
So by Sharing Spoils you could better plan one another's fates.
And as usual in the spirit of this month of giving treats
We capped off the 31st with some Halloween Speed Game Holiday sweets.

November brought another milestone for game number 8 Million---
These tears of celebration and joy certainly aren't crocodillian.
Steelhorse's Annual Risk Classic kicked off in Bethlehem, PA
As we sent cpurcell, Gilligan, Godd, bristow47, Flow520, and Redbaron0 to represent our flag in play.
And can you believe it---you like us, you really like us---
Over 400 followers on Twitter and 5000 fans on Facebook, our heartfelt thanks we express.

December brought a new medal for us all scamper after---
The Clan Achievement debuted with 745 medals already achieved, what a blockbuster!
And just in time for the spirit of the holidays
Our Winter Holiday celebration commenced with a Christmas map, snowflake dice, a scavenger hunt craze.
And in Off Topic news again, this forum racked up 1 Million total posts, what fire fuel!---
And what was the lucky post, you ask? 'Not you, the mule.'

And as 2010 bows a final Shakespearean adieu
What a year we've had, quite something its true.
But what will 2011 and 5 years plus have for all of us?
Your guess is as good as mine, but I'm thinking a long continued success.

5 years strong and Still messed up Dice!

Postby thenybuffs on Sun Jan 02, 2011 1:27 am

2,356,344 defensive dice thrown since I started playing and defense rolls 1's only 158,346 That's a 6.719987% chance that the defensive dice will roll a 1. Everything being equal there is a 16.6666% that any number 1-6 will be rolled. With nearly a 10% variance difference between what should be and what actually is, There I could only come up with a couple of conclusions.
1) The dice system for this game needs to be seriously looked at and adjusted A.S.A.P.
2) One of the game Dev's is mad at me and has somehow manually adjusted the chances how my opponents dice is determined thereby giving me the disadvantage in each and every game I play.
3) I have Seriously bad luck. And please understand if this is the case, the chances of my opponent rolling 1's only 6.72% of the time out of 2.356,344 dice rolls is astronomical! It would be almost the same odds as me winning the state Lotto Jackpot in each and every state in the United States all in the same week buy only 1 ticket in each.

My conclusion? I'm going with door number 1 or door number 2. I've only been playing for about 2 years... quit for several months in between because of this issue, came back and it's still the same issue. Please please please for the love of the DICE, please fix this issue! 5 years should be plenty of time to have fixed this issue.

Thanks!
