You wake up groggy from a rest that could hardly be called such, given your exhaustion. After adjusting to the dim light, your eyes enlighten you to your surroundings: cracked stone walls with some odd, transparent liquid trickling from the openings, a window barred with rusty iron rods, and a gate in front of you that looks strangely new despite the rest of the decor, a slight shine piercing your fragile vision, causing you to hide your eyes from the polished metal. You attempt to stand up, but can't. You are strapped in a wooden chair, you suspect oak, but you aren't confident enough in your carpentry knowledge and you briefly curse yourself for not studying enough in school. Your hands and feet are shackled to each other with heavy metal chains. A yellowed cloth, stained in blood, has been tied around your abdomen and the chair to secure you to it. You also notice a similar-looking cloth around your neck. You assume it had been a lame attempt at gagging you, but you can't tell for sure. You shout - surely you must not be alone in this God-forsaken place. You here two muffled sounds from either side of you, but you can't see who is making them. Suddenly, you see a man walk up to the cell gate.
"Ah, yes, the beloved Samuel. It is so unfortunate we must meet in these circumstances, but I'm sure you understand. I've come to do business, Mister Samuel, as I do believe you have something that belongs to me..."
"I'll never give you the Vegemite Stone!" You exclaim.
"Oh, Samuel, I'm a reasonable businessman. See, I have something you want and you have something I want."
"What do you have that would make me want to give it up?!"
"Well, my bargaining tools happened to march right into my humble abode. A foolish no one and his pet monkey... You wouldn't happen to know them, would you?"
"What have you done to them?!?"
"Ah, I guess good things do happen to good people - it's like the Winter Holiday Celebration came early this year."
"You bastard! You'll pay for this!"
"Tut, tut, tut, Samuel, you wouldn't want anything to happen to your dear, dear friends... Guards? Bring them to me."
Three men enter each cell on either side of you to bring out a young man and a curious-looking monkey, both in a similar predicament to your own. You recognize them both, and your hatred grows.
"Let's make this quick and painless, shall we? Hand over the stone and I'll release your friends."
