I say yes this is a great idea personally

How about this:

Epic: A player should be able to set the order of colors he prefers so that he is most likely to play with his favorite colors.

1) Add a feature to the Control Panel: "Set my color preferences" where a player can rank the available colors

2) Update the "initialize game" bit to set colors based on the players' preferences.

- you won't always get your favorite color, but you'll be more likely to get it
- no annoying pre-game dialogs to add overhead to getting a game going

Read the first post. If green is already taken, you can't take it. The game would look like this in Join A Game/Game Finder

I think it would be awesome. Maybe there could be more then 6 colors to chose from. I miss the black armies from my childhood RISK playing days. If there was more then 6 colors then people would not get stuck with something they dont like (pink).

This wouldn't be possible with the current agreed upon way of implementing this, which is as TFO mentioned above, is being able to choose the player slot you join. This is the easiest way to implement this change and knowing Lack, will be the only way it would ever happen since it's very similiar to the current 'join team' code in place for team games and hence should be easy enough to implement.

It is a very cool idea and if they did implement it I think it should be a Premium only (I'm a Freemium). I do think also that it would take too much energy and would not add that much to the game itself.

it doesn't add anything to the game and you don't get to choose the colour you want unless you create the game.

everyone else gets to choose from the scraps which may include the one they want but the more that have joined before them the less likely that is. right down to the last person to join who gets NO choice whatsoever.

I hope not. It appears lack has some good judgment, and when he gets time to work on the site, he spends it on improvements and not time-wasters like this.

I do not like this idea. A better idea would be that the colours are assign based on the start of the round. This would mean that player who is randomly picked to start, is always red. The following players always follow the same order of colours. In this way, it is always clear when a round starts and when a round eds (without the need to look at the game log).

Is the "host" of the game still always red or top position though? Some people have unwritten rules, idk such as adjacent attacks. Its a common indicator where I can say okay this guy is host, im sure his rule is in effect, cant as easily figure it out if you are playing a lot of games with that person
