White circles generally don't match up well with the typical graphical style of a map, if that makes sense. It's hard to make army circles look good in most cases, it seems.

That would be my guess. Suggestions with not enough support are generally left in the main Suggestions forum. There was a lot of clean-up around here a while back, so who knows? Perhaps Merciful TheForgivenOne Of The Most High Suggs Mod may grace us with his abundance of wisdom and knowledge on the subject.

I'm a suggs mod too sully

Also, it's in the rejected pile (which I still argue should simply be renamed Archived Suggestions, and Archived Implemented should just be Implemented) because it fell off the first three pages, and we occasionally clean the forum to keep it from growing uncontrollably. However, since this one has re-surfaced.

Moved back to the main forum.

i agree to making blue lighter but more importantly i would like the grey/slate to be changed. it's a horribly difficult colour.

I think a broader-based solution would be to make it possible to turn on an opaque background for the army numbers. Whether this would be toggled from one's control panel, or would simply appear when you hover over the number is an issue for later separate discussion.

I never have any problem seeing the blue numbers. What I do often have a problem with are the green numbers. Fix the green before fixing the blue.

First of all, I think something should be done about the white armies. For some reason reason the white player always deadbeats! Annoying!

This is possible, if you have BOB.

Go into a game, click on MAP OPTIONS, CIRCLE WHITNESS (each click makes the circles behind the armies 10% whiter)

Right.

It should be available as a site option.

Anyone who has ever been the blue player on Conquerman should know what this suggestion is about.

Because there's nothing wrong with yellow or any other colour. Only blue.

Here's a little example...

The upper row is the current army numbers...
The lower row is the same numbers with the luminosity balanced to the same level on all.

Notice how much blue becomes brighter and yellow becomes darker? I'm not saying all numbers should be changed like this, but this demonstrates clearly how much darker blue is than the other numbers.

The new blue colour would certainly be more distinguishable from a dark background, but it is much less distinct from grey (old or new) and from the new white. Of course, there is no reason to change the white.

Here is a counter-suggestion aimed at the same problem: why not outline the blue numbers in white instead of black?

Here's an even better, and even simpler, more effective solution.

Let everyone choose the colors of the various 8 slots in a game in their control panel. Offer a color palette for those that aren't as technically aware, and have a text input field that will accept a hex color code as an input (like #AA0000 for Dark Red).

No doubt that would be better, but there is no way that would be simpler to implement than either natty's idea or mine. Also, too many people are accustomed to addressing player 1 as "red" in game chat, so letting people mess with that might cause more problems than it solves.

Yeah, and what if people pick colours that are too close to each other?

They would be the only ones to see the colors, so there wouldn't be an effect the user couldn't fix.

The fact that a user caused a problem and can fix it will not stop some from complaining bitterly about it.

Please fix blue. If it was consistently associated with a certain position in an 8-player game (e.g. first or last) I'd never sign up for a game at that position. I hate playing dark blue.
