This looks like a solid base to me. Please remember the restriction for small maps: 600px height or you will have to go supersize.

Also, you should start from the large map. It's way easier to resize from large to small than the other way around.

OK, here's the large 800H x 840W. 33 regions in total, 6 bonus areas. Let me know what you think...

As a devout New Jerseyan, it drives me a little nuts to see so many prominent towns left off the map (Hackensack, Paramus, Hoboken, East Rutherford, Holmdel, Wayne, Union, etc...), but I like the auto deploys.

Why did you go away from making the bonuses the counties?

I tried to get in everything i could, but it was getting a little cluttered, lol...

That is also why i combined a few counties into 1 region, if i tried to break down 21 counties into 3 or so towns/cities within each, it would never fit.

I like the update. Definitely an improvement.

I'd suggest requesting to move this to the drafting room to continue the progress.

I wouldn't flatten and stretch the state map like that. I know it's a long shape - maybe try to use a 3d isometric style shape so it fits the canvas better

That would fit a standard size map no problem. It would all depend on how you choose to represent each one. Why do a map of a region if you are not going to accurately portray that area.
Nice start though.

Ok, I added a few more prominent regions, here's the best i can do. 48 total regions, 4 of which will be autodeploys, and 6 land regions for bonus.

i would call the somerville region Bridgewater and then the raritan region somerville....locations would be more accurate(so i think) and bridgewater is the the bigger town in the area compared to raritan.

also netcong I believe is on the other side of hopatcong (west) not east...could be wrong again...plus budd lake and mt olive are not that west at all.... one of those could maybe be blairstown.

obviously i know its hard to partition it up and be very accurate but just some suggestions to look into.

Ok, here's what i'll do...

+Somerville changes to Bridgewater
+Raritan changes to Somerville
+Netcong swaps with Hopatcong
+Mt Olive changes to Blairstown
+West Orange changes to Newark
+Newark changes to Hackensack

Good?

Next item I need help with is region names. I have 6 in total... thoughts?

First things first. Please keep your first post updated with the current image and all your previous images, along with the current map info such as territory count, # of bonuses etc.

This has a good start, and I'll take a closer at it later.

Please look into adjusting the shape so it's not squished. You'll get a lot of complaints if you release it this way.

This was my biggest gripe too. I'm glad you're working on this.

Here's the state properly projected in NAD83 State Plane New Jersey at 630x600. Perhaps the extra white space can be utilized for an inset of the denser areas?

rjbeals map squishes the top of NJ and screws with it, irons is too small it seems (all those cut out map type maps are irritating)

airport and seaport bonuses border each other and are in same region? Doesn't make sense, also why have regions is there is no region bonuses? Maybe move autodeplys away from each other and place an autodeploy bonus near the southwest and northwest of map if you arent doing region bonuses. If you are doing them, why have them next to each other in same region?

i have 0 in there, because i don't know what the bonus will be yet, lol. and i don't want to make random regions have autodeploys, that doesn't make sense. elizabeth and newark are in close proximity to each other

alright alright, leave it to you to pick out something minor at this point. i guess i'll find something for an autodeploy in each region, or else go with none...

It is not a minor point and something I was going to comment on. You don't have to have autodeploys for each region, but you shouldn't have two in one region, especially next to each other.
