To be obtained, can be something like:

*50 supporters Bronze
*100 Supporters Silver
*200 supporters Gold

I like the idea of a medal given by the community

Now that would be fun! I don't think you should call it "Popularity" Medal though. :lol:

Specifics/Details:
I believe a new medal should be issued to various community members based on how popular they are. To save the community trouble, I nominate myself to decide who will be awarded these medals. I'll have some site lackey do the actual issuing.
