Since you have a clear idea of how you want this to proceed, I think you can have this:

To get to the land forces part, you need to get past 13 neutrals before you can start to spend troops on ground forces.
My idea for it was to have some way to break deadlocks as most games will probably not use it.
...about the last 4 and not being able to finish the game off.
If I make aircraft 2 a +2 bonus and at the bottom where I have space, put in something like all aircraft can shot down other aircraft.
The arrows will go back in. Just trying to find one that suits the map.

I know you cannot be safe from planes
but you have to avoid a potential stalemate
maybe just by saying you can go "down" the scale would be ok
that way one can still come back to the fighter to counter-attack and bombard the last planes

but keep the scale as it is it make sense
if you want to sweep out the ground forces only by planes
you need to spend a lot of resources in it
making you weak on to counter-attack

koontz1973 wrote:I like the colours you showed, but is that for the map or the plane strip. If it is for the strip, then it will be done. Thanks for that.

I meant it for the map
as your zones are not contrasted enough to ensure a good playability

and you have to put a neutral counter on the submarines
as the are reset neutral

Thanks pamoa, changed some of the gameplay schematics. Will post the image tonight and then we will see where we go from there.

Not much in the way of graphics delt with this time. But some minor changes.

Game play changes.
All planes can shoot down the enemy's planes. This deals with the stalemate problem.
Submarines can not longer attack up to 3 territs away as this negates the ship to ship bombardments. But they are now unable to be attacked from the planes.

Discuss.
Bonus values. Currently there are 15 bonuses on the board. Too many or not enough. What about the values.
Navel forces.
The subs, can they attack further than one?
Can they be attacked by planes?
Bombardment ranges for ships, remove, make longer?
Should ships be able to bombard the coastal areas?
The two British Aircraft carriers. Make these LZ's. This would give the British 4, instead of the 2. But then they start as 3 neutral.
Airforce scale. I added another bonus into the neutrals. Does this give to much power to the airforce (this is consistent with how the airforce works nowadays).
Nuetral vaules for the LZ's and planes are 3/2. Is this to low or to high.
I was thinking of,
aircraft 1 & 2 (stay at 2)
aircraft 3 & 4 (go to a 3 neutral)
aircraft 5 & 6 (go to a 4 neutral)

Graphicaly, leave any changes you want to see made.

ok a couple of quick notes.
the colours are too similar i think. also the annotation is a bit confusing but once the areas are more distinguishable then it won't matter really.
also a correction on legend. Hold aircraft 3 - bombard enemy naval forces

Well, I am a lurker too, but if you want comments, here they are: I like this map, and I think it would be very nice that this particular conflict was available for playing on the site. As an Argentinian, I know I would play it for fun, anyway.

About the Belgrano, well, it was an important element in the war, and it should be included along with subs, in my opinion. It could present some kind of strategic advantage when conquered, I think, so it would in some way parallel what happened in reality. But I haven't any specific suggestions about it.

Anyway, I just dropped to say that, yes, I would really like to have a Falklands/Malvinas map to play in CC.

Cheers!

Yes, a truly sad loss which accounted for almost half the losses of life in the war itself.

Falklands/Malvinas, am going to put the Malvinas onto of the 1982 but have been looking for what the Argentinian called the war. Expect me to PM you and will get the Belgrano in. Might give it a seperate bonus if held with the British sub. Will remove ARA Hercules for the Belgrano.

On its own, no bonus.
With Argentinian - fleet bonus
With British sub - minus 3

Will do the same for the British fleet.

Here is the latest one.

Things changed.
Neutral values for the aircraft.
Negative bonuses for the subs.
Landing zone bonus added.
Rules for subs finalised.
Changed land colours. [Which ones work for you, which do not]
Title finalised. Added the Argentine name for the war. Thanks to elbitjusticiero for that.
There are now 17 bonuses and 2 negative bonuses on the board.
Added the Belgrano

Colour changes.
Bonus values.
Any more bonuses needed? or taken away?
Would like for the ships to bombard the land territs. Too much or if can do, how far into the land to have it.
Neutral values.

If you want to be notified when a new draft comes along. Let me know and I will PM you.

Spelling correction:
- NavAl instead of navEl (unless you want a fleet that is having its crewmembers stare at their belly-buttons all the time, or has an unnatural obsession with citrus fruit)

On another tangent, the mountains look EXTREMELY plain, the woods look a little bit too speckled, like someone spilled a cut-up chia pet on your map, and the overall land texture looks like you took a bas relief or generic bump and applied it to the entire land area. I realize they're all graphical complaints, but hey. ;)

All points noted. Not to worried about the mountains yet as they are going to be like the trees from RD map. Always changing them, never satisfying everyone. What the hell is chia pet? and how did they get into my forests. The texture was less noticeable with the old colours, now they have been changed, it will need to be looked at. Spelling will correct next version. No comments on the gameplay section apart from spelling. :-s

The map is actually very clear, and clarity/consistency are my specialty. MarshalNey is the guy who breaks down your bonuses and makes you weep for mercy. ;)

Changed the spelling.
Moved the two sister ships together. Thanks Gypsys Kiss
Changed the mountain. Looks pretty good now.
Changed the trees. Again, I like the look now.
Legend work.

Ideas on texture for the land now as that is the next big thing to work on. Not getting the results I want so any ideas on how it should look?

You could make it like a operation battle board Image
or like a satelitefoto, just with color different teritories Image

I tried the operational board when I developed Invasion UK (1948), but never managed to pull it off to my liking, hence why I never posted it. But the gameplay is all sorted so will get back to that as soon as I have finished this one. Right now, the texture is more like a topographical map, which is not what I want and does not fit into the image I have in my head. The colours look OK now but I need to find a texture that conveys the barren ruggedness of the islands.

I think you should do it as one sees countryside, seen from the air to make it more natural, the Falklands are a hills with grass, gravel, stones and small mountains (what i can see on pictures, have never been there ;) ) As you've made it now it looks very flat, even with the texture, if you bring the land up from the water it migth give something

I had that look at the beginning, but a few guys wanted the mosaic look so changed it. It is a very green land that is very cold and wet. Will play with it some more and hope to have something more concrete later in the week.

You know, I reckon the problem is with the lines. They look a little "drawn on". Whilst that may be what you wanted, I feel it may be sistracting you. Maybe play with smoothing the edges of the lines into the territory or something? I am still learning my graphics programme so please don't hit me if I am asking too much!!
