The Tournament Directors and Tournament Organisers Usergroup would like to announce the following contest:
Create a Fantasy / Sci-Fi Tournament.
The object of this fun contest is to create a tournament with an in-depth sci-fi / fantasy setting of your own creation.
Creations will be judged by a panel of TDs and TOs on the following criteria:
Creativity - your setting or storyline.
Presentation - this includes any graphics and understandability of your explanations.
Diversity and appropriate usage of maps.
Practicality - does the tournament have rules and a structure that will work and settings that ensure it will move through its stages relatively swiftly (remember, all tournaments must be designed to finish within 12 months)?
Format of the Contest:
Tournament Organisers have until midnight CC time on 12th December to create their idea and post it here (they may also post in the Create / Join a Tournament Forum if they wish).
A 'draft' entry can be made within 1 week, whereby a judge will provide you with a few ideas for development.
After 2 weeks the judging panel will individually score all entries and therby determine the top three. Each judge will score each entry out of 5 for the above criteria and add up for a total (out of 20). The 7 judges' totals are then added together for each entry to determine the top 3 scores. If there any ties then 5 of the judges will vote for one or the other tied entries.
Tournament Organisers will then recruit for and run their tournaments.
When tournaments are complete, those voted as the top 3 will be rewarded with a General Achievement medal.
Further Rules:
Judges and TDs cannot enter the contest.
Only one entry per contestant.
Normal rules for organising tournaments apply.
Contestants can adapt ideas from anywhere in the sci-fi world, and are more than welcome to adapt graphics and ideas from below:

"The Dark Wizard Conqclu"
Looking for up to 64 players. Freemiums are welcome but must have completed 50 games or more.
It is a perilous time for the world of Midgard. The evil dark wizard Conqclu has appeared from nowhere and attacked the lands, intent on world domination. He has acted swiftly and has taken control over the land. Many great leaders have fallen, and the dark wizard wreaks havoc everywhere. In addition, Conqclu has cast a spell, which has infected your mind. The infection is degenerative, leading up to 4 individual personalities in your head. You must struggle to avoid going insane. Inside your mind you must eliminate the remaining personalities in order to keep from going insane. You have up to two chances to escape with your mind intact. Only then will you be ready for the trials that await you. Midgard awaits a hero to survive and release the world from the ravages of Conqclu.
Like waking up from a nightmare, your struggle within your own mind exhausts you and you come back to your single consciousness, breathing hard. You have reclaimed your mind as your own. You find yourself alone with a castle in the distance. There is a single thought that stands out in your mind. You must stop the dark wizard. However, in order to do so, you must have a seat of power. You journey to the castle only to find it abandoned of leadership. Another has also arrived. Determined to be the one who saves Midgard, you both seek to control the castle and its surrounding lands. Immediately a duel is offered, which you accept. The inhabitants of the castle and its lands begin to take sides, offering their support for the two champions.
The crowds fall silent as you plunge your sword through your opponents chest. You look around you at the scene of devastation. It was a bitter victory, with many losses on both sides. Townspeople and fighters corpses are sprawled throughout the area. After defeating your enemy, you have seized control and are one step closer to finding and destroying the Dark Wizard Conqclu. You begin to rebuild the castle, fortifying its defenses. As you begin to marshal your forces though, a scout reports that an attack force is approaching. You bring in your fighters, scratching out a hurried plan of defense. Your hard fought victory was short lived, as you are now facing an attack from another warrior.
The siege has been broken. Your opponent has begged for mercy, which you showed by imprisoning them in your dungeons rather than behead them. It is time to begin hounding down Conqclu. However, as you begin to expand your holdings and support you find yourself coming up against opposition of forces who also wish to be the one to bring the Dark Wizard to his knees. Control of the lands will not come easy. You must first bring to order the lands into your control. Only then will you find the Conqclu. You have more forces at your command.
You have been fighting long and hard for many weeks now. The fighting doesn't seem to stop. There is very little opposition left in your path, but still, a few foes remain. Some battles have bene long and bloody, others have been quick and very little blood spilled. You feel confident that you will be the one to bring down the Dark Wizard. You have been hearing from many resources that he is in hiding and fears for his life as you grow stronger. His powers have been weakened and you remain devoted to your cause. You just need to secure the domination over the land, to secure your own wizardly powers. You have many more resources at this point. You just need to untie the realm.
At long last you have vanquished all but one of your opponents. The Dark Wizard Conqclu is almost yours. Gathering your books of power and marshaling your forces, you set out to hunt down the Dark wizard. As you march along the roads to where you believe Conqclu is hiding a strange blue aura appears from nowhere and envelops you and your entire army. The light grows brighter and brighter, rivaling that of the sun. You close your eyes against the light. As you do, you feel a squeezing sort of pressure all around you. There is a gut-wrenching sensation and you begin to hear cries from your fighters. You open your eyes, and stare in disbelief. The world around you is changed. All around you is flat lands. In one direction, are some large hills, almost the size of mountains. You are no longer in Midgard. You and your forces have been sent through a portal to an entirely different land. You suddenly realize something. the Dark Wizard Conqclu is from another world. He must have brought you here to his own land, fearing his own destruction. You send out scouts to search the nearby hills.
Your scouts have returned quickly. They report to you that a sizable force stands on the other side of the hills and their force equals your own. It is obviously the Dark Wizard come to destroy you. You quickly spread your forces out in order to best defeat the coming attack. You have your own powers now which will allow you to strike fear into the very hearts of your opponents though. You feel confident that you will be able to kill Conqclu.
Epilogue: The final battle is over. You have fought long and hard to secure your victory. You have managed to secure books of magic that enable you to travel between the worlds of Midgard and Tamriel. However, your hunger for the destruction of the Dark Wizard Conqclu has left a bitter taste for blood in your mouth. You find yourself looking in the mirror and see something you never expected to see. Your reflection is that of Conqclu himself. Upon seeing this, you feel stabbing pains in your skull which bring you to your knees. After a few moments, the pain subsides. You get back up, look again in the mirror, and you hear yourself say, "They never suspected I might very well be hiding within your own mind. So much for your thoughts." And that is the last thing you remember as you feel your mind crushed into oblivion....
