LSU is 4-6 since former Fresno State coach AmphibiousRodent took over as interim coach. That may not sound so hot, but LSU was 2-10 when the switch was made, and AR's run includes a 78-69 win over then-No. 2 Arkansas. Geaux Tigers!

UCSB moves within 1 of Santa Clara for the Conference lead. They started the season off rough, 5-11 (0-3), despite beating #22 Purdue (then #8) in the opener on the road. Since the rough start however, the Gauchos have picked it up with 5 straight wins, all in WCC play, to make them 10-11 (5-3). This has been an incredible shift in play, allowing them to rise up from last in the conference to tied for second, one game back on the Broncos. They play Santa Clara this week on ESPN, (Game 10541806,Game 10541807,Game 10541808).

After picking up 3 losses in 6 games heading into the Christmas Break including 2 league losses, the Toledo Rockets have rebounded. Now at #8 in the rankings, have picked up 8 straight to reach 21-4 (10-2 in league) overall. Six wins bookended by forfeits from a Buffalo program that has cancelled its basketball season will almost certainly see the Rockets to the top of the MAC standings. After a game 14 loss against nearby conference rival Eastern Michigan, the Rockets traveled to Buffalo right as the Bisons were calling off the remainder of the season.

The rest did Toledo well, as they rolled through a 5-game homestand defeating opponents by an average of 30 points per contest. The toughest opponent was the other ranked program in the MAC, Bowling Green. Toledo defeated Bowling Green in a hard fought 79-70 victory that was contested until the end. Despite struggles on the road earlier this season (3 of its 4 losses have been in games played outside of Toledo), Toledo put on a clinic at Northern Illinois with a 98-48 victory. Toledo will face some of its most serious tests of the season in the next few weeks as they travel to again face Bowling Green and have one home and one away game with a Kent State team that has flirted with the Top-40 all season.

Barring a late-season implosion, Toledo has virtually secured a bid to the Dance. But Head Coach Agentcom made it clear that the Rockets don't plan on coasting. "We're playing for a conference championship first. That means taking it one game at a time and winning these conference games. Then we'll start thinking about the tournament."

some news I wish I didn't have to report, but if pms are correct it appears that Alabama's coach SouthernWarrior passed away this week...RIP  O:)

For tourney purposes I put out a feeler in the Immediate Openings forum and will give that a few days. If no one shows up by the weekend, we'll just forfeit the rest of 'Bama's games.

Nebraska continues being undefeated in top 25 play with a victory over Michigan, but enjoys losing to cadets and the bottom feeders.

You should talk to DJ Teflon about getting a GA Medal for the winner of the NIT.

Bowling Green opts to wear the armbands as well. A sad time in NCAA.

Congrats to mizzou3181 who has Illinois at the top of the rankings for the first time this season, ending Princeton's month-long stay in the top spot.

Conference standings updates coming within the hour.

7-0 vs the Top 25 and I'm taking number 13 down to the wire at home. That's how you get to the top!

... And that rare occurrence is exactly what happened to me.

Congrats to Kent State for handing Toledo it's 5th loss of the season. A tough road match-up for the Rockets who recorded a 74-73 loss in a game that was 55 to 42 in their favor at one point. The Rockets fizzled and allowed a 32-16 point run at the end of the game. The teams will meet again in Toledo for the penultimate game of the regular season for both teams.

Tennessee, now #10, prevails. It was a game of huge runs, as the Vols sprinted out to an early 32-16 lead at home. The crowd was rocking at Thompson-Boling Arena. Before you could bat an eye, the Razorbacks recovered and, only a few minutes into the second half, tied the game at 48. The remainder of the game had a March Madness feel to it, as the teams battled back and forth. As soon as it seemed one team was about to go on a run, the other would roar back to tie it up. The game came down to the final minute, as Tennessee was able to convert consecutive 3 pointers to put the game away 77-70. A well fought game that was tooth and nail, nothing you wouldn't expect from two top 10 teams!

Tennessee hands Arkansas its first Top-25 loss, while remaining unbeaten against top-flight competition itself at 5-0.

Sadly, this is true. But the Razorbacks have bounced back with a dominant showing in front of the home crown in Fayetteville. The Florida Gators are going back to the swamplands with their tails between their legs.

Final score: 90-58

Well scratch that talk about defeating the #1 team, he got to go first in all 3, two of which he took a bonus round 1 and the other he was up to 18 regions to my 11 due to dice and no bonuses held by round 2 while my 9v4's and 8v3's are failing.

i wish sometimes that i could get some of that luck. you cant ask for more than going first in every game, getting a great drop in every game and getting better dice (by far) in every game. I wonder often how its possible to lose with luck like that. At least it is a fellow #1 team. hope his luck keeps it up while he represents the big 10

Vermont rallies from 12 down at the half to stun Duquesne 77-71. Coach Ricrem was quite pleased with his team's 3rd win this year vs a top 25 team, one in which the Dukes suffered only their 2nd league loss of the season. When asked after the game what the difference was between the halves, Ricrem responded that, "We were more patient during the 2nd half, waiting for things to open up offensively. I feel at the end we caught DU napping a bit on some of our backdoor cuts."
