Romney Campaign: No Gays Allowed

Postby Symmetry on Thu May 03, 2012 10:49 am

Seeing as Mitt Romney basically fired one of his foreign policy advisors for being gay (technically, he resigned, because he was gay, but it's not like Willard stood up for the dude), is Romney now caving to the homophobic far right?

Romney gay spokesman quit after he was ‘told to shut up’ in front of junior staff

Richard Grenell Flap Had 'Blown Over,' Mitt Romney Campaign Staff Thought

Disturbing stuff, and rightly condemned from everyone but the far right.

That's a bit of a stretch, as is your dishonest title.

Would you care to explain your thinking? Or are you merely content with calling me dishonest without the courage or knowledge to back up your assertion?

It's not a matter of courage or knowledge and frankly I'm surprised that you'd even need to ask. Your thread title states the Romney campaign has a policy of "no gays allowed" when in reality they hired one and he left willingly because of disagreements with others in the campaign, hence you are a liar.

Interesting, what do you think I lied about? Clearly he was forced out for being gay, and for no other reason. I'm a little baffled as to your weird credulity on Romney's campaign. Do you really think he left willingly?

Do you honestly think Romney would hire another member of staff who is gay?

Do try to back up your assertions with evidence next time. It makes my counter arguments more interesting.

Did they know he was gay when they hired him? I agree he was forced out for being gay. Thread title seems appropriate.

As far as I can tell, yes. I doubt Romney will hire any more openly gay staffers though. No gays on his campaign.

Okay, sounds like we've got that all sorted out then.

Next topic - what's your favorite ice cream?

Mine is orange sorbet. (Is that an ice cream or is sorbet not considered part of the ice cream family?)

I don't think a sorbet is an icecream. Just like frozen yogurt isn't icecream.

I think it's funny to see how fast rMoney switched it up from republican primaries vs general election. The dude is such a lying sack of shit. It should be an executable offense for a presidential candidate to lie to the public.

Come on dude, you're not even slightly concerned that Willard caved this early to the far right?

You're right, I just wikipediaed it. Apparently I should have said orange sherbert, not sorbet. All these years I could never figure out why the taste differed so greatly from place to place!

Oh, sorry, I thought you'd finished your monologue; my mistake - please continue.

(Gang - please suspend the ice cream talk until Symm's speech is over. Thank you!)

From your article:

Several top Romney campaign officials tried to persuade Grenell to stay on and enlisted former Republican National Committee chairman Ken Mehlman, another openly gay GOP figure, to appeal to him as well, according to a source with knowledge of Mehlman's involvement. Mehlman declined to comment to HuffPost.

Your questions have been answered and you're choosing to ignore those answers. At this point I'm not sure if you're dishonest or delusional, but frankly I'm not interested in carrying on a conversation like this with someone as radically far left as you seem to be.

How sweet of you. You almost make it seem like your inability to answer basic questions or provide evidence for your strange assertions are somehow my fault, and indeed that your cowardice and inability to admit your mistakes are a point of virtue, rather than you running away, scared, afraid, and ignorant.

A cute attempt, nonetheless. Maybe next time wear the big boy pants.
