Isn't the whole point of the turn time limits that the really short ones are for people who are all sitting at their PC playing at the same time, and the 24 hours turns give people enough time to go away, have a life and then check their CC in the evening?

I'd be a bit annoyed if my opponent took their turn at 1am my time, and then I woke up, went to work and had my turn timeout on me before I got home.

It would require me to check my games during the time I'm getting ready to go to work.

But what if there is an exodus of players from 24 to 12 it would be like when the colonies all deserted the Empire.

(i.e. I'd still be incredible and awesome, but no one would want to play any more :( )

You would not be forced to play 12 hour games. And I think that most people would not play 12 hour games. I know that I wouldn't.

me neither, but i think 12/24/48/72 hour games would not hurt anyone just like 1/2/3/4/5 minute speed games.

This would be an amazing addition to the site! If this was put to a vote by the members It would win in a HUGE landslide.

12 hour option

Postby IditarodGuy on Tue May 15, 2012 9:57 am

Currently there are the 24 hour, 5, 4, 3, 2, 1 minuet game round options. Is there a reason there should not be a 12 hour option for those who want a slightly quicker game?

It should be available to:
Freemiums
Premiums alike

I want the option to have slightly quicker game even though I can't afford premium, I am sure many other people feel the same way about it. Can someone look into making a 12 hour round?

It is included in the thread linked below, which is in the "submitted" suggestions - it has not been rejected at this point, just hasn't been implemented either. If you have additional comments, you should add to the conversation there - this is the incorrect place for this thread or this conversation.

I will attempt to move this to the Suggestions forum, as this idea cannot be implemented by an add-on or script, which is the type of suggestion that can be discussed in the Tools Suggestions & Bugs forum. Be aware that the Suggestions forum has a standard format for its first post that this topic does not meet, so the Suggestions mods may insist on some cleanup, or they may just merge it with a similar existing post.

With the amount of money you guys bring in each year, it should only be a small fraction of that would cast to implement this. Oh, it make me boil when you say "it costs money" you should have more than enough $$$ for this.

12 hours is too slow for speed games, and too fast for daily turns... its really hard to pull off

why would CC have enough money for this?

why would they implement features for bludgers to enjoy?

Personally, I wouldn't use this option. With 24-hour turns, some days it's tough enough to log in once, and with 12-hours, you'd need to log in every 12 hours. For those with plenty of time on their hands, I can see this being an attractive option, but I'd probably never play a game with 12-hour turns.

I really like the idea--even when I am barely playing games I take turns in the morning and at night--could be a fun setting to speed up tourneys as well

greenoaks, you have a point. but I think premiums might benefit from 12 hour turns too. in which case, going against it is cutting off the nose to spite the face.

perhaps it could be an option for 6-8 player games where waiting times can be days...

i'd personally not use it, but i'm not against it.

the reason i would not use it, because sometimes it happens that you have a really busy evening + you sleep at night and + you have school early in the morning so that's easily 12 hours of not being able to log in, which may result in missing turns.

i could imagine some people liking to use it, especially on 8 (or 12, in the future) player games, especially when they have access to mobile internet on their laptop.
