Team Spoils Gifting/Trading

Postby Cyantist on Tue Jul 31, 2012 12:17 pm

Concise description:
 • Once per turn, during the reinforcement phase, a player would have the option to skip reinforcing and instead give one spoil to a teammate. If possible, include option to also trade a spoil instead of just giving.

Specifics/Details:
 • At the end of their turn, a player would have the option to forfeit their reinforcement phase in order to gift a spoil to a teammate.
 • The giving player could give any of their cards to their teammate.
 • The player receiving the card could use it immediately on their next turn.
 • Trading would be an interesting option off of this, if possible. In that option, players would get to give AND take one spoil from a teammate. Since it would be overly complicated to allow the other player a choice in which card was taken, it may be best if the player could take ANY card from a teammate and give any of theirs.
 • Note: Of course, this is just a suggestion for an additional game option

How this will benefit the site and/or other comments:
 • Place a greater emphasis on cards.
 • Open up different styles of gameplay, ie. other players could act as card feeders to the "tank" teammate.

I say no if it is for all games.

If it's optional, I'm not sure I would play this. Just puts more emphasis on getting luck with the cards.

Interesting for a different game type, but it sounds like it'd be really difficult to implement.

I say no if it is for all games.

Of course it's optional; I don't know why people in this forum always assume suggestions are for ALL games/types... That's ridic.
Just take it easy there, kids...

And I can't speak to its implementation; that would be for the developers to say.
I don't know how team data interacts, but since a player can already see their teammates' spoils, it seems at least plausible.

I think it would definitely place a greater emphasis on cards, but I don't think it would be an option that would overpower the game. When a player gifts a card, they give up that card as well as that reinforcement phase, so there are sacrifices to be made.

Could be interesting. Not my favorite of all the new game option suggestions out there, but I'm personally not opposed to the idea.

Perhaps this would be another "Special Gameplay" option: Spoils Reinforcements or something like that

I figured this would belong in the "Special Gameplay" section...

In my mind this could be combined with any type of spoils, so eg "Flat Rate Spoils - Gift Option" (obviously only available a an option when a team game type is selected).

agentcom, what would be some of your favorite suggestions? I'd like to take a look...

If it were implemented, why would it be only team games?

It could be amazing to give people nuclear cards. Or to give people cards to force them to trade before you when they didn't want to...

Yeaaaaahhhh, I suppose those scenarios could work(?).
Though my intention was to only help teammates...
I mean, you can't deploy on/reinforce to other players in non-team games...

But, what if you could to that too!?

That was once suggested. I'm not sure what happened to that thread though.

Other site or sites it is a option that the team can give all the cards away at any time, have played it quite interesting game play. Also setting diffrent values on card spots is another interesting thing. We have all these setting here with freestyle games one minute play ect why not make more then ?

I would like the option of giving a card in team play, but not taking from a team mate. I've played this in other forums and it placed a greater value on cards and spiced up the game.

I would agree on this being a viable option if the limit is one card per reinforcement phase :)

Maybe I will approach this again at some point, esp. after others are implemented, though for me, Zombie Neutrals is the only one that really seems worth pushing...

Thanks for the comments y'all.

Another thought that I just had: a player who is about to be eliminated would be able to give away his spoils... Think this would add an interesting twist to "harvesting" a player for their spoils...

yes, this argument chages it for me.
Its a most definit NO.
Eliminating your own teammate may seem counter intuitive (and sometimes counter productive) but its a valid strategy.
Without the need to protect your teammate, you take a large part of the strategy out of the game.

a most definite no

Instead of gifting/trading, why not have all the spoils cards for a team be put into one pot and any team member can cash any set in that pot at any time. Pot would still be limited to 5 cards before a forced cash but would add the kinda flexibility here without (seems to me) as much extra coding/fiddling. If a player cashes they only get the +2 bonus if they own the tert on the card, their team-mates don't?

Team games spoils pool

Postby yunto10 on Fri Aug 02, 2013 6:40 am

Concise description:

In team games have a pool where all spoils are put into andbtaken out from rather than individual spoils

Specifics/Details:

Every time a team mate takes a region, the spoils would go into a pool of spoils. Whenever a set has been made, an agreed teammate will cash in those spoils. That way if in say a 2 player game, where 1 person puts in 2 reds and 1 blue and the other 1 red and 2 blues, both players can play a set rather than waiting.

How this will benefit the site and/or other comments:
this would add an extra teamwork element to the game
