Welcome to another installment of the WWW: tournament series from GhoStedar!
I decided to hold a tournament to determine that age old question: who would win?
This installment will reignite the fierce rivalry of North America and pit the polite Canadians against the proud Americans!
Over the past few months, the Canadian government has been commemorating the 200th anniversary of the War of 1812 and will continue to do so for the next three years until the 200th anniversary of the war's end. Commonly remembered by Americans as a second chance for the USA to lay a whoopin' on Britain, in Canada, it is remembered as the second time the Canucks had to lay a smack-down on the Yankees. The War of 1812 was only a starting point for my thoughts and I hope to return to this at a later date. Instead, I decided to start from the beginning of our proud and varied rivalry with this tournament.
Regardless of whether one sees this as a positive or a negative, the American War of Independence resulted in the birth of one of the most powerful nations the world has ever seen. What people don't remember is that this "Big Brother" of the world tried to destroy his modern day best friend in his fight for survival. Luckily, "Big Brother" underestimated the strength of the Habitants and he was beaten back across the Great Lakes in the first military victory Canada ever had.
When signing up, state whether you want to serve with the Canadian or American armies. I am also taking suggestions for future tournament combatants.
And if you were wondering which country in America, I mean, by my stupidity above, the United States of America
Thanks
Well done; I thought someone might comment on the fact that, technically speaking, we are all Americans if we hail from North America. It's just simpler to say Canada and America, you know?
Good luck to all and to all a good fight!
