I should think this is wise advice pretty much across the boards. :)

Sure but he
(a) does martial arts, &
(b) has the symptoms he describes.

No, been having these symptoms since before I got back into martial arts. And when I got back into it, it was strictly non-contact stuff.

Nah, my bad. I had no idea he was into martial arts. 8-[
I still think it's good advice.

"Let's all not thump each other in the head".
Yup. Good advise, I have to agree.
What's that, Punchy? You heard the bell so you came out fighting?

If I felt that I could leave after I became punch drunk and before I was technically brain damaged I might consider a career in boxing. Free lifetime buzz.
Unfortunately I don't think it's an exact science, getting thumped on the head. ;)

As far as general advice goes, she told me to get nice custom earplugs, or just use the foam ones; the tree's don't work very well. "Fit" is the most important part for earplugs to work properly.

Yeah It might be hard to fall asleep with the tree option.

That would depend a lot on the size of the tree. Ever heard of the Japanese "Banzai Tree?"

They are relatively small and can fit into just about any ear orifice. And with practice and patience become quite an attention grabber at those loud sporting events or rock and roll concerts. LOL.

Hmm, yes so you are thinking a more portable version then?
I suppose you could put bonzais on nightstands on either side of your bed and strategically place them so that a branch from either side fits into either ear... However, you would need either a very narrow bed or very long branches and from what I heard the branches take considerable time to grow.
