Well yes, but MLS teams are not such a big challenge. Mexico also plays as a guest in Copa Libertadores, which is the best tournament of the continent, but CONCACAF make the Mexican league to send not the best teams but the second best, because they want the best teams to play their shitty tournament. Nevertheless Mexico has been close to win the tournament despite having to deal with ridiculous rules like the one that says that if a Mexican team is in the final, no matter the position the final game must be in South America, or the fact that if both Mexican teams are in semifinals they have to face each other.

I think they should unite the conmebol and concacaf anyways. the concacaf is just about mexico and the US, all the rest is bellow shit. For the world cup qualifiers I think the group is too long for the conmebol, every country plays one another twice.
They should just do a huge panamerican confedereation with more and smaller groups. This would improve the level of mexico and the US. I do think that both are quite underrated for being part of such a weak confederation with no opponents.
It does feel right to have mexican teams in the libertadores, for example. why not mls as well?

Anyway, another ridiculous thing is that the oceaninan cofederation still exists while the only worthy team, australia, is now attached to the asian federation. Why don't they just merge both? a confederation for NZ and a few ridiculously small islands, really?? europe- africa- asia+pacific- americas would do it.

Can you imagine the crazy lengths for travel that would involve? Let's say a Canadian club is in the same group as an Argentinian club in some hypothetical "Champions League." Either team having to travel that far midweek and then back to play a league game would be exhausted.

European teams don't have to deal with traveling so much, while two clubs in Europe could be a ten or twenty minute drive from one another in America clubs are very widely spread out throughout the country. Imagine a big European club to travel all over Europe for a full 34 game season, and then imagine that teams in Europe would occasionally have to fly to South Africa midweek to play a Champions League game. It'd be very difficult to implement this.

As much as we'd like to see it, the two won't merge. If anything, North and Central America countries could possibly split off from the tiny Caribbean nations which hold so much voting power in FIFA and are incredibly corrupt (Jack Warner, for example).

I think they should merge the Copa America and Golden Cup.. it's a tournament hosted by one nation once every 4 years.. This way, South America nations would have qualifiers to reach this.. Consequently, they should split their world cup qualifiers into 2 groups instead of shitty 10 teams round robin which negatively affected the performance and levels of South America nations.

sad but true... South america football is no longer as decent as used to be. I'm a fan of that part of the world (football wise), but let's face it, as UEFA's unstoppable progress goes, corruption in South America just held their progress back.

I think the 10 nations qualifiers competition for 4-5 places in world cup finals just diluted the strength of their 2 giants, Argentina and Brazil.

Those 2 don't have to worry about their places in World cup anymore. Argentina know they can lose 6 games and still advance, while in the past when it used to be 5 teams in each group, they knew they couldn't afford more than one defeat or 2 as maximum. so why would they bother to strategize and play seriously? Not to mention how exhausting it gets when a player has to cross the ocean too many times to represent his national team.

Copa america is kind of confusing... it used to be regularly held every 2 years till 2001.. then the crap began when they shifted it to 2004 instead of 2003 upon a request made by the FIFA... the next one was held 3 years later in 2007 which made it even more confusing.. 4 years later, they held the next one and to my knowledge, it's gonna be every 4 years.

Africa? yeah their atmosphere is annoying but they need to make it every 4 years.
