Poll: 2012 Citizen of the Year

Postby DoomYoshi on Mon Dec 31, 2012 7:32 pm

Who contributed the most to Conquer Club? Who is most worthy of recognition? Originally, I was going to just decide AndyDufresne and leave it at that, but I figure a poll would be nice.

The big story of the year of course is the regime change, and all those nominated are involved in the regime change.

wouldn't it be better if the options of the poll were unpaid volunteers?

not sure if that's an oxymoron or not, as I understand some "volunteers" do get paid.

I was considering a Moderator Award, but. I can imagine in normal years, this award will be more similar to what you suggest.

for me it has to be Andy. A true gentle monkey that has helped me out a lot in the foundry with his wise words of wisdom.

Didn't you hear the news about me?

I was torn between lack for being a gent and giving up the reigns, andy for not getting bent out of shape and rds for just generally being cool all around, including during the transition. Considering lack probably banked on the exchange and andy is probably just oblivious, I went with the gameboy incarnate.

Good point. Who are paid, then its job its to contribute, not because he like to contribute in CC.
But i dont know who are voluntary on these list,so i vote for funky.
Lack and el _jefe are hard to be voluntairs, and others i dont know.

I keep seeing all these polls, but I am not sure how they were nominated. Is it just DY's opinion?

My days of contributing greatly to this site are over. I just want to play in a few tourneys and run a few. I have some interest in CC for now and would like to keep it at a happy medium.

I was just curious.

Many f them had nomination threads. I didn't really get any nominations though, and had to provide most of them myself...

On that poll funky is the only one who hasn't gotten paid yes, and he was entered as a joke alternative, like "kittens" are in most polls.

It might help if some one post the nominees rules and accomplishments. Most happens behind the scenes where most people don't even know what these people do. The only thing that I know about these nominees is that Andy is a monkey and that Funky is the sexiest man alive. Other than that I don't know these people!

You may find it hard to believe but I was involved, however slightly and very probably serendipidiously. ;)

king achilles is the only constant in the regime change. Every one else is either in or out?

Wouldn't it be lackattack who contributed the most since he created the site?

Or is the question who contributed the most to make the site what it is?

No offense but I wish there was a little more guidance to what we are voting for in the original post.

You're right general, a lot of this stuff is behind the scenes material and admittedly you must read between the lines to see most of it. Here's how I personally consider the credentials of the candidates:

Lack- Turned over the site when he no longer had the free time to give it his full attention, a gentleman's move if you ask me.

El_Jefe- Accepted the role of El Capitan, Imho tough shoes to fill.

Rds- Accepted role of new community manager. To me it's another shoe-filling scenario where andy is a very well liked individual. There are all sorts of mixed feelings there I'm sure within the community but rds I feel has filled the role rather gracefully nonetheless.

KA- No offense to KA but I'm not privy to why he was nominated. Perhaps yoshi can clear this up but it has to be something to do with him being Support Administrator?

Myself- Could be a joke, I'm not entirely sure, again you would have to ask yoshi but I did suggest/predict the turning over of the site to new hands in the linked thread a couple of months before it happened: viewtopic.php?f=6&t=152877.

Mind you, this is just from my personal standpoint and I'm sure a ton happens behind closed doors, so to speak. ;)
