CC spends to much time reacting

Postby greenoaks on Thu Feb 14, 2013 6:33 am

I feel CC spends to much time reacting instead of planning for the future. take the hints being dropped that a new medal level is coming. it is suggested that level will be 1000 and called Diamond. why CC? i already have several categories that would qualify. so i'm going to want another level beyond Diamond. it wont be long before there'll be a chorus of voices requesting another level. but what is above Diamond? nothing. why build a brick wall for everyone to hit? sure, introduce Diamond if you don't think the site will be here for much longer. or you could plan ahead CC as though you expect to be around another 20 years or more from now.

there was a pattern with the current levels. Bronze = 20, Silver = 5 Bronze, Gold = 4 Silver. the next level would be set at 3 Gold (1200). call it Platinum or something else but the key is these medals should be named after 4 different types of metals, each more precious than the last. a Precious Stone tier could follow above those but it would end with Diamond, not start with it. Emerald, Ruby, Sapphire & Diamond. each level would be twice the level before it. that would be 2400, 4800, 9600, 19200. a truly epic achievement and Diamonds are forever ;) if you want to make counting easier then round the 1200 up to 1250 so this level is 2500, 5000, 10000 & 20000.

yes some players may get there and want more. so where to go after a truly epic achievement that has taken a lifetime. well easy, Idol, Immortal, Demigod, Deity. these levels would be a Diamond achievement greater than the last - 40000, 60000, 80000, 100000.

there is no need to stop there. rollout qwert's ribbon sug as a tiered option that matches the medals above, with your highest ribbon for each map showing. at a glance we could then see if someone specialises in 1 map or is a true all-rounder. the ribbon could have on one side a stripe to represent Bronze, 2 for Silver, 3 for Gold, etc. the other side would have a stripe to represent each of the Stones. 4 Stars would be used to represent the third tier, 2 on each side.

and don't treat Ratings any different. give it matching levels or do away with it completely. but probably keep it as rating might be the only way most of us earn one of those medals of the highest order.

implementing what's outlined above would silence the crying out for higher levels of game achievement recognition for decades to come.

if CC give the Suggestion forum their own medal discussed here and one for the Foundry, maybe the one discussed here or replicate the Suggs idea for the Foundry ;) players will flock to those 2 forums seeking those medals, contributing to CC's long term development in the process.

This is a superb sentence and completely correct. greenoaks is correct, whilst I have never been a medal hunter, many have and as soon as these new ones are collected, another level will be asked for. So instead of one new level of medal, give us ones that are truly a lifetime to get. Then this can be put to bed for ever and never touched upon again.

Why wait to see what the community wants, we may not know what we want. Some truly fantastic suggestions have been made in the suggestions forum, but some may not of been thought of. Why do we need to see if enough of us want something, a good suggestion is just that.

As far as the diamond being the highest possible level, I don't agree. You can always make some shit up. How about a "Ghost level" or an "Honor level" or a "Veteran level"? I can think these up all day so I don't think anyone needs to get hung up on the diamond thing.
But I do agree that CC needs to take the initiative a little bit more when it comes to trying new ideas out and stop trying to be absolutely certain the community will support the idea 100% before changing things. Live a little, CC! :D

Perhaps cc should spend more time thinking about the seriously terrible service it gives rather than screwing around with those items that don't engender real loyalty and increased income.

I've got to agree that medals are most likely not going to affect membership in the grand scheme of things. I'm curious what "terrible service" refers to though?

I agree with the OP. Period. It was ludicrous to go straight to Diamond. We could have gone Platinum, then Iridium, then through semi-precious stones before going into precious stones. Think of the long term, not just what sounds good for the next 3 days.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but I think the new medals are actually 'Platinum' and not 'Diamond' ?

But the OP is still valid.

Tbh I think diamond is kind of cheezy anyway and I'm happy it probably won't be the utmost highest level in the long run. Warriors don't wear diamonds lol!

I have a medal suggestion so you don't have to worry about them clamoring for another level of medals. I call it the horse and carrot medal. Every time they get close the number required to get the metal automatically increases.

Sounds like it would be a great success but that's a funny looking horse, ES.

If I was good with photo shop I would have changed the carrot to a medal.

theres nothing better than KISS

Keep it simple and stupid

that works, honestly, since 99 percent of us here are stupid anyway

fix the dice, let the people attack 20 vs 10 and get away with it

not attacking with 10 troops 20 troops and getting away with it !

fix the dice, the majority will become great players and the few guys left from the beginning of this site
will go back to disneyland

I want to agree, but medals seem to serve as a cost-effective distraction for most people.

Yeah, have you ever played the Risk computer game? The difficulty level I'm pretty sure I remember was controlled by the dice outcomes. It's just not practical to mess with the realities of dice randomness in the long term/large scale.
