saxitoxin wrote:Everyone - Glenn, Darryl and Rick - decided to spend the first half of this episode on a spa holiday and all hell broke loose.

Where did the group of four strangers go? Did they leave the prison or are they hiding out in some other part?

It only took them like 2 days originally to figure out how to kill zombies, now that Laurie is back why can't anyone figure out how to kill ghosts?

How many walkers did they fit into that van? That's like a Zombie Clown Car.

Merle: I almost killed that black bitch and the Chinese kid.
Darryl: HE'S KOREAN! (but you were right about the girl, she is a bitch)

Every single episode Rick gets sweatier and sweatier. The next time Glenn goes on a diaper and condom run he really needs to grab a towel or something for Rick.

Yep, Daryl can be blamed because of his stupid affection for his redneck brother.

Rick can be blamed because of his crazy ass Lori/Shane-mania.

Glenn can be blamed because he really hasn't been a leader and declared himself to be...and then disappeared when the group needed someone...ANYONE...the most!

Lori won't be killed...they will keep having her come back (like an angel) to help Rick along...STUPID! And that fucking Zombie Clown Car! THAT MADE ME LAUGH WHEN I SAW HOW MANY FUCKING ZOMBIES CAME OUT OF IT!!!!

And the funniest line from Merle had to be: "Slowdown there, Beaner!" when Daryl decided to help some Hispanic folks on a bridge. A bit racist...yes, but in context with Merle's character and the crescendo of the scene...priceless.

And I also noticed how much Rick has been sweating...I am guessing the director wants you to feel uncomfortable with Rick at the moment as he is going through the thralls of a mental breakdown.

I assume that Rick is getting sweatier because:

a) he's chasing hallucinations in thick foliage, in a warm climate (it's the American Deep South, average daily temp for late February is around 64 F / 18 C, and it can go much higher)
b) and he's currently too deranged to remember to take a bath

I suppose after the smell of so much rotting flesh, a little body odor is hardly noticeable. Perhaps compounded further depending on the status of the loo roll supply...? ;)

Oh, I think Glenn's trying, he's just in over his head. He's only taking over as leader because of the vacuum left thanks to Rick's trip to Nutter Town. He's still developing in terms of maturity and wisdom (he's come a long way from season 1, sure, but look at him even just last season and how green he was). Plus right now that's not helped by his being in the grips of a little PTSD, both from his own beating and from his perception of his woman being 'violated'.

Personally, I'm tired of the most annoying characters being women >:[ C'mon, let the boys take a turn being total tw@ts.

Well, sometimes Dale annoyed me with his disgusted half sneer/smile. He poked his nose too much into Rick's business, when Rick came to one of his hardest decisions he had to make. Shane (although a total prick) would have been the better leader in the Zombie World. Rick had to take on some of Shane's characteristics to be a better leader for the group. If they gave T-dog more acting time, I am sure I would have been easily annoyed with his character.

I hated Lori the most, and hate seeing her again as Rick's "crazy ghost".

I don't know why we want to hate the women more? Am I alone on this? Does the female audience see it the same way? Do they hate the female characters more than the male ones?

Almost every female character annoys me in some way. I would say that Carol annoys me the least, I am not sure why that is. I hear lots of people complain about her character. I think I like Carol because she was abused by her husband and then lost her daughter later on, but she seems to have really kept herself together without being overly bitchy. On the contrary, she always seems to have a warm smile and pleasant demeanor in the show. That's just my opinion.

Maybe females in general just annoy the hell out of ya. LOL.

Or maybe we men are just different? LOL. In an end of the world like situation, the last thing that I want is to debate a decision that I would make as leader of the group. That is why I agree with Rick last season when he said that this was not a democracy and that if anyone did not like it, that they are free to go their own ways but from then are they are all going to do as he says. Or something like that.

But I don't get carol at all. She went from a Submissive hillbilly (old) chick, to this really independent person who is not going crazy, grieving the lost of her only daughter. I don't know about other father's, but if I lost my only child in a situation like that, even though I am not a woman, I would be going mad out of my mind! I would probably be thinking why bother to live any more?

I mean, sure she grieved but it's in the past now? It's time to move on? I don't think so. I would be so off the wall still that if anyone even looked at me funny, I would just clobbered them right there and then. There would be no logical discussions. They would all be afraid of me and know better then to get too close or in my way. they would all be like, "He still needs time to get over the lost of his child, yes it's been a year now but just leave him alone. Don't bother him, don't even look in his direction." :)

Everyone I know, regardless of gender, has been annoyed with at least one woman on the show. I suspect it just comes down to being a weak area of writing. The show (and graphic novels) are amazing, except for how the women are written -- motivations, dialogue, etc. -- which comes across as a little wooden and stereotypical at times. Whereas female me interprets that as characters being a tad unrealistic, my male friends often interpret it as characters being bitchy. Go figure. Either way, makes for characters you hope become zombie fodder.

...though to be fair, I always cheer for the zombies anyway :D

I agree with you when it's the midst of an emergency, like when they first were learning to fight the walkers or when the horde came through. Solve crisis first, soothe egos later. That just doesn't work, though, for day-to-day living. Sure there's always a background threat, but a lot of their time is now spent on more mundane tasks like foraging for food and cleaning blood & guts off the floors. *IF* the characters had lived in a dictatorship before the Zombacolypse, then it would make sense for them to be more accepting of that type of authority now. They weren't, though, and that's why they are beginning to get prickly about being ordered about and not having their opinions be taken into account.

Yeah, Carol is definitely confusing me. What I find oddest, though, is that while her character should be a hillbilly, she actually doesn't come across as one at all to me, and it ends up being a bit jarring. Plus that business of collapsing with grief over Sophia yesterday/not blinking an eye today thing is unusual.

Know what I still wonder about?? Morgan and his son, from season 1. Any thoughts on whether we think the cop from St. Louis* made it or not?

The rumor mill says that Morgan will return in Season 3. How he reappears, we could only speculate. I thought maybe Rick needed Morgan to appear to knock the crazies out of him, but I think the sheer fear of the Governor's attack has grounded him again...as of now. Will his son be with him? Will we be informed that Duane has died during their time apart from Rick?

I am unfamiliar (or don't remember) any cop from St. Louis; however, in trying to google an answer, I came across this disturbing story:

Whiskey Tango Foxtrot? 0_o I can only presume some serious mental health issues going on there.

I was giving a nod to another of my favorite shows with Lennie James:

Yeah, that story kind of blew my mind. That guy must have really had a screw loose to shoot his girlfriend over The Walking Dead.

As far as your reply to my confusion: I have never seen Jericho. I will have to give it a shot sometime.

I was racking my brain over all the people that appeared on The Walking Dead and couldn't remember any cops from St. Louis! LOL!

You could see her thinking about what Carol said.

So it's Andrea trying to seduce the Gov into doing what she wants, and he knows & is playing her. Sheesh.
