Do you have a time machine? If so, can I borrow it?

You already will have.

I hope all the correspondence is going well and that you are all hatching dastardly plots.

Just a friendly reminder your spring 01 orders are due this Friday, I will be processing orders Saturday with or without your orders having been submitted.

So get your orders in today! you can always submit changes at a later time.

There were only two survivors of a shipwreck who were able to make their way to a desert island, a handsome young Englishman and a beautiful young Englishwoman.

What did they do?

Answer - nothing, because nobody had introduced them to each other.

Ho ho ho, the English.

Hi everybody. Someone asked a question which I think bears clarifying here in the thread.

I would like to draw your attention to page 5 of the rulebook . (https://www.wizards.com/avalonhill/rules/diplomacy.pdf) Where it talks about "specific movement restrictions".

Kiel and Denmark are connected. An army may move into Kiel from Denmark and vice versa. Kiel and Sweden are also similarly connected.

Furthermore a Fleet in Kiel has access to both HEL and BAL, and does not need to pass through Denmark.

Also important are the Coast rules. For movement purposes its as though each coast of Saint Petersburg, Spain and Bulgaria are separate provinces that have specific adjacent territories.
Though for purposes of control a fleet on either coast controls the territory and only one coast may be occupied at a time.

Someone asked an important question
Question, for clarity's sake:

Is this now the turn when we produce stuff at the supply centers?

And if nothing is on my SC, suppose I build an army on next turn--but someone invades the SC on the next turn. Does my newly created army bounce back the invading army?

No.

Think of a round as having three parts.

Part 1 (spring) Armies jockey for position and try to get to a spot where they can capture Supply centres. In this phase you will not actually capture the centres you occupy.

Part 2 (fall) Armies move in for the kill and attempt to capture supply centres. At the end of this round any regions containing supply centres with units in them will transfer to the units controller. For example, if the Austrian army in Greece on this map is still there by the end of the round. Control of Greece will transfer to Austria away from Turkey.

Image

Part 3 (winter) build, disband or do nothing. In this phase we tally up how many supply centres players control and how many units they control. If they have more supply than units they get to build. If they have more units than supply they lose units.

From our example map above, let`s say Austria, captures Greece. Austria would now have 5 supply and 4 units. Austria would be able to build a unit in an available Home centre ( In our example they could choose Vienna or Budapest).

Turkey would now have 3 supply, and 3 units. They would do nothing. Neither building nor disbanding. if they had a 4th unit they would have to disband one of their 4 units.

A run down on support

With maps!!
I like to think as each unit being worth 1. Whoever has the bigger number wins and has their order go off. Supporting units add their strength to whatever action is being taken.

So in our situation we have This map.

Image

Two Russian fleets face off with one Turkish one.

They submit orders as follows.

Russia
Fleet Sevastapol ->(moves) Black Sea
Fleet Rumania Holds

Turkey
Fleet Black sea Holds

So Russia has one fleet attacking the black sea. Turkey has one fleet holding it. 1-1= 0 So no one has an advantage meaning it's a stalemate.

The result of this set of orders would be that Sevastopol fails to dislodge the Turkish fleet.

Russia:
F Sevastopol - Black Sea (*Fails*)
F Rumania Hold

Turkey:
F Black Sea Hold

it fails as one unit versus one unit always results in stalemate.

Now if Russia uses a support order.

The fleet in Rumania being adjacent to both the attacking army, and the defending army is able to help Sevastopol attack the black sea.

Russia:
F Sevastopol - Black Sea
F Rumania Supports F Sevastopol - Black Sea

Turkey:
F Black Sea Hold (*Dislodged*)

Russia now has two units committed against turkey's one. (Russia is red Turkey blue) 2- 1=1. Russia has one left over, Russia therefore prevails and is able to push turkey out of the black sea. Turkey's fleet is not destroyed, it is only forced to retreat.

Support can also be used for defence.

Let's assume the turks have a second fleet.

Image

They place their orders as such.

Russia:
F Sevastopol - Black Sea
F Rumania Supports F Sevastopol - Black Sea

Turkey:
F Black Sea Hold
F Armenia Supports F Black Sea

The result would be as follows.
Russia:
F Sevastopol - Black Sea (*Fails*)
F Rumania Supports F Sevastopol - Black Sea

Turkey:
F Black Sea Hold
F Armenia Supports F Black Sea

Turkey's fleet in armenia is supporting the fleet in the black sea, giving him 2 units. Russia's fleet in Rumania supports his fleet into the black sea, giving him two units. 2- 1=2 The result is a stalemate, so Russia fails to take the black sea.

I hope this makes it a bit clearer. if you have any further questions feel free to ask. Also the relevant pages on support orders are 7- 10 in the rulebook found here. https://www.wizards.com/avalonhill/rules/diplomacy.pdf

Someone had questions about convoys here's a little run-down

Image

Let's say Austria wants to move that army in Spain to Brest.

They would place their orders as follows.

Austria:
A Spain - Brest
F Mid-Atlantic Ocean Convoys A Spain - Brest

Assuming nothing blocked him, Austria's army would then be in brest at the end of the year.

You can convoy an army even further if you have the fleets.
Image

Let's say Austria wants to move Spain to Saint petersburg This is what their orders would look like.

Austria:
A Spain - St Petersburg
F Mid-Atlantic Ocean Convoys A Spain - St Petersburg
F North Atlantic Ocean Convoys A Spain - St Petersburg
F Norwegian Sea Convoys A Spain - St Petersburg
F Barents Sea Convoys A Spain - St Petersburg

It would work too and the army would show up in Saint Petersburg much to the Russian's dismay.

If you have any questions be sure to ask. Also see page 11 and 12 on a description of how to use those. https://www.wizards.com/avalonhill/rules/diplomacy.pdf

Re: Conquer Club Diplomacy! *DELAYED!* Due to BBS' tom foole

Postby Baron Von PWN on Tue Mar 19, 2013 8:37 am

I have received evryone but BBS' moves. I have decided to name and shame BBS for his impudence. I have also decided to be mercifull and leave him till the end of today to submit his moves. If he fails to send them in by today I will advance the turn. I will not be accepting move alterations from anyone but BBS.

Bellow is a photo of BBS.
