What MLB STADIUM is best for a game?

Postby 2dimes on Wed Apr 10, 2013 8:50 pm

If you could go to any stadium to watch a game which one would you choose?

I would like to take my kids to a game. Might have to go to Seattle because it's closest.

Anaheim is a contender because of a certain mouse. And Nationals park because of the smithsonian museum/Americana tourist areas.

Only ever been to the Skydome, Metrodome and Target Field. Target Field is quite nice though.

Not a baseball fan, but have heard from traveling fans that Coors Field in Denver is a fun place. Been there a few times myself, and even though I'm not a baseball fan, there are activities in there to do (even a batting cage).
"Eh, whatever."

Sax could provide a better recommendation on college football stadiums. But he's only been to two MLB Stadiums: Safeco Field and Dodger Stadium.

-Dodger Stadium is a dump in a sketchy part of town with sketchier people in the stands. But the woman are A+!!!!!!!

-Safeo Field is a cross between your dentist's office and the ball pit at Chuck-E-Cheese. Everything is clean and colorful and I'm pretty sure the Seattle police arrest people who use four-letter words. The stadium is modern and attractive but has a subliminal vibe of mediocrity about it, like they had a box with a "Make Your Own Baseball Team" label on the outside delivered one day and just opened it up and assembled it. There's not much character. Also, women in Seattle are ugly as sin. And everyone dresses like it's 1998. But the whole experience from first pitch to last inning seems designed to be FAM-FRIENDLY.

Hmm, last time I liked a woman it turned out pretty bad. How expensive is the beer, peanuts and hot dog combo at Dodgey stadium?

Any stadium that is torn down. If I can't watch baseball back through time, I'm not paying for tickets.

I'd like to go to Fenway. AoG promised me tickets 8 years ago.

Because I am a Dodger fan I will always have a special love affair with the stadium. But the last few years under the last owner things have gone pretty bad with the entire atmosphere there. The one stadium that has great sight views is AT & T Park in San Francisco. The view of the city and bay are great. You have public transportation outside the gates and downtown San Francisco. San Diego Petco Park is also a comfortable atmosphere. Close by is the Gas Lamp district with it's fine dining.

If I hit the power-ball, ditch my wife and meet FruitCake at Petco Park. Got it.

Mighty?

That part of Boston, IMO, is awesome. I haven't actually been *inside* Fenway, but I know it's gorgeous.

However it doesn't appeal to kids like Mighty Mouse does.

Comerica Park. Because it's closest, and because the Tigers have the best lineup in baseball.

Bollocks.

I know some people might think otherwise, but I really love Wrigley Field.

One of these days I have to get to Fenway, but there is something about Wrigley that just feels right.

Of course my tickets are to Yankee Stadium; a nice comfortable place it is.

Next time you're at a stadium, just drink some beers, no need to blur the pictures afterwards.

Fenway Park

There's no such thing as a good "stadium" for a game.

The game is intended to be played in a park.

Currently the bullpen sucks! We'll be counting on our starters going at least 7 every game. Or pitching a complete game like Fister did yesterday.

Bollocks.

Like "Central Park?"

Baseball, like all gladiatorial games should be played in a stadium.

And certainly not in any place built by R.P.I. architects.

Oh wait ... I take that back.

But we didn't name the place ... that was clearly YOUR fault.

Because most icon designs are crap and use a lot of transparency. It's hard to see them or read the text if there is a lot detail behind them. When I'm in a hurry I don't have time to study which one is the terminal icon or the secure copy icon or the remote link icon.

I believe that Central Park has three baseball fields. So yes.

Obviously the distinction I am making is that the term "Stadium" implies a huge place, whereas a "Park" implies something a little smaller, and a little more intimate. These giant Stadiums are not conducive to baseball viewing. Also the game should be played under the open sky... it should NOT be played in a domed stadium.
